Classic cars\, old military vehicles\, farm tractors and motorcycles are all apt to be on premises for this family event. \nThe Kiwanis Club will be grilling Village Market hamburgers and hot dogs\, and serving sodas\, and we’ll have an ice cream truck on the premises. DESCRIPTION:Join the Wilton Kiwanis Club at its 2nd Family Service Day for a fun opportunity to volunteer together as a family\, on Saturday\, Sept. 28\, at 9 a.m.\, in the Pumpkin Patch at the Wilton Historical Society. \nWe will arrange pumpkins and gourds in the Pumpkin Patch\, getting the Patch ready to begin selling pumpkins\, hay\, cornstalks\, and more. Donuts will be on hand to give us energy.  Plus\, each volunteer family will get a $5 off coupon toward a pumpkin to take home. \nSales from the Pumpkin Patch will benefit the Wilton Community. Volunteering does more than make people feel good–it enhances social networks\, improves mental health\, and contributes to higher levels of happiness\, self-esteem\, self-worth\, and life satisfaction. \nThe Kiwanis Club is grateful to all the families that came out for the Club’s 1st Family Service Day at the Kiwanis Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast!  Thanks to them\, we were able to efficiently serve our traditional Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast to so many in the community. SUMMARY:Things That Go Bump in the Night . . . Wilton Historical Society's Ghost Night
DESCRIPTION:When night settles on creaky old buildings during the scariest time of the year\, you never know what you may bump into . . . ! \nThis spooky evening hosted by the Wilton Historical Society for kids ages 8-12 will take place on Saturday\, Oct. 19\, from 6-7:30 p.m.. \nDuring a candlelight walk through the dimly lit period rooms\, and up and down groaning stairs of the 1740 Betts House and the 1772 Fitch House\, kids will hear stories of the families who lived there. They will wend their way to the Burt Barn\, where they will hear classic scary Halloween stories told in the dark. The evening will conclude with games\, cider and donuts. Halloween costumes are optional. \nParents may drop their kids off\, but they are invited to linger and enjoy a glass of hard cider while waiting. Co-sponsored by the Wilton Kiwanis Club. \nRegistration is required\, via email or by calling 203.762.7257. The cost for members is $15 per child\, with a maximum of $30 per family; for non-members the cost is $25 per child\, with a maximum of $50 per family.

Residents are invited to bring family and friends to Wilton Center to welcome in the season! \nAmong the events scheduled for the evening: \n\nChildren of all ages can participate in holiday crafts and activities on the Town Green\, featuring free cookie painting (nut free) with The Painted Cookie and potato latkes sponsored by GOOD Morning Wilton. Enjoy festive music provided by the Wilton High School band and local holiday carolers.\nTree lighting on the Town Green at 5:30 p.m. following the Wilton Fire Department’s escort of Santa on the Engine 5 ladder truck. Santa will visit with children at the gazebo on the Town Green\, where they can share their holiday wishes and receive a special treat from Santa.\nMarshmallow Roast at Schenck’s Island from 5:30-8 p.m. sponsored by Wilton Kiwanis. DESCRIPTION:The Kiwanis Club of Wilton is adapting its quarterly food drive that supports the Wilton Food Pantry\, to make sure COVID-19 doesn’t interfere with the club’s efforts. Instead of asking for actual food items\, members will be in front of Village Market this weekend (Friday-Sunday\, June 26-28) asking shoppers to consider donating gift cards that can be purchased in-store at the cash register. \nCustomers can then deposit them upon leaving the store in a special box provided by a designated member of the Kiwanis Club. This process aligns with pandemic social distancing\, and subsequent distribution is simplified. \nKiwanis members will be in front of the Village Market between the hours of 11 a.m.-5 p.m.\, under the banner of Feed Wilton; in response to COVID-19 physical contact will be minimized\, and the focus will be on gift card donations to serve those who are food insecure within our community. Kiwanis will match the first $3\,000 of the proceeds.
