Royal and celebrity biographer Andrew Morton is busy at work on a book about Meghan Markle, the fiancée of England’s Prince Harry, so he’s making only one book tour stop in the tri-state area–and that’s at Wilton Library. Meet Morton when he discusses his latest book, Wallis in Love: The Untold Life of the Duchess of Windsor, the Woman Who Changed the Monarchy, on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
GOOD Morning Wilton is pleased to be the media sponsor of the event. (See details of our ticket giveaway at the end of the article!)
In Wallis in Love, Morton uses diary entries, letters, and other never-before-seen records to offer a vibrant portrait of Wallis Simpson, the woman behind the love story of the ages–perfect for the day before Valentine’s Day. Morton brings new light to the story of the Duchess of Windsor, the woman for whom Edward VIII so infamously abdicated his throne and birthright.
The event runs from 7-8:30 p.m..
Morton’s book is a fresh look at Simpson in all her vibrancy and brazenness as she climbed the social ladder. He takes readers through the cacophonous Jazz Age, Wallis’s romantic adventures in Washington and friendship with Eleanor Roosevelt; her exploits in China and beyond; to her entrance into London Society.
Morton studied history at the University of Sussex, England, with a focus on aristocracy and the 1930s. He has written biographies featuring the British Royal Family, including Princess Diana, as well as celebrities like Tom Cruise and Angelina Jolie. Get a taste of “The Crown” up close and personal and maybe pick up some details on the soon-to-be Her Royal Highness, Princess Henry of Wales.
The moderator for the evening is Gretchen Young, VP, executive editor at Grand Central Publishing. A Q&A will follow the talk. There is no charge for the program, but advance registration is highly recommended. To register, visit the Wilton Library website or call 203.762.6334. Books will be available for purchase and signing courtesy of Elm Street Books, New Canaan.
Wilton Library is located at 137 Old Ridgefield Rd..
