Angela Bastone from Cooking with Ms. Angela & Friends is coming to teach a new culinary arts class for middle school students at Trackside Teen Center. In this program, participants will learn new cooking and baking techniques and explore kitchen tools while hanging out with their peers at Trackside’s commercial kitchen. This class will allow small group, hands-on opportunities through station teaching to follow recipes. Students will rotate through two stations during each class to learn every aspect of preparing delicious foods.

Students participating in this class will have an opportunity to decide the themes for each week while also learning to prepare some popular favorites, including chicken Parmesan meatballs, zucchini linguine, and empanadas. Some techniques covered in this class will include how to dice, cut, sauté, puree, simmer, marinate, mince, batter, and more.

“Angela Bastone has a fun approach to teaching middle school teens and we are sure that students will get a lot of enjoyment from this new class,” says Trackside program director Amy Nassef.

Culinary Arts Class at Trackside will meet on Tuesdays from 4:30-6 p.m., beginning Feb. 27 through April 3. Registration for this course is available on the Trackside website. A registration fee of $300 per student includes the cost of supplies for each class. Students may take bus 7 from Middlebrook after school to arrive at Trackside before class begins.
