Miller-Driscoll School celebrated the outgoing second graders at the annual end-of-year picnic on June 10. The fun-filled day marked the tradition send-off for the “oldest of the youngest” of Wilton’s school children, as they look toward the coming transition of beginning 3rd grade at Cider Mill School. More than 200 second graders participated in a day full of exciting activities including a laser show, field day games, a cook-out lunch, a dance party, before the afternoon closed with ice pops.

Perhaps one of the highlights for many of the second graders was when interim principal Bernadette Hess showed the 2nd graders her dance moves. She clearly was proud of her students. “The second grade picnic is a wonderful tradition at Miller-Driscoll School. It is a time to celebrate our second graders, their teachers and parents for their dedication, support and hard work.”

The PTA organizers on the Second Grade Picnic Committee thanked the community businesses who sponsored the event:  Caraluzzi’s, Connecticut Coffee & Grill, Karen Morneau Photography, Starbucks, Stop & Shop, Subway and the Village Market, and acknowledged all the volunteers who dedicated time and energy to make the event happen.
