There’s only one week left to order citrus fruits from the Kiwanis Club of Wilton during its 25th annual citrus sale, which is already off to a fantastic start, according to Kiwanis president John Kalamirides,

“Donations and sales during the first two weeks are way up versus last year. We are asking Wilton residents, the business community, everyone, to support our citrus drive by either buying or donating fruit or by making a cash donation,” he says.

Even though severe weather has negatively impacted this year’s citrus crop, Wilton Kiwanis decided to maintain the same prices as last year. “We think this year’s citrus compares very favorably in both price and quality to what is available in local stores,” says Dave Hapke, chairman of this year’s sale. “The best part is that 100% of net proceeds are distributed to local and charitable causes, in addition to donations of fruit to needy local food pantries. So, it’s a win-win.”

Orders must be placed before Feb. 20 and can be done so online on the Kiwanis Club of Wilton website or directly with any Kiwanis member.

As has become a tradition, orders will be available for pickup at ECS Transportation (390 Danbury Rd., opposite Wilton High School) on Friday, March 2, 12-5 p.m.; Saturday, March 3, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sunday, March 4, 12-5 p.m.. Delivery is available by request for orders of six or more cases.
