SUMMARY:Chef/Sous-Chef Challenge–CANCELLED
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.\n\n\nJoin the Circle of Care for a Chef/Sous-Chef Challenge benefiting families of children with cancer. This will be a fun interactive battle of local celebrity chefs paired with amateurs in a “Chopped” style competition. Participating chefs are Matt Storch of Match; Ron Gallo of The Inn at Pound Ridge; Adam Greenberg (the “Winningest” chef in Food Network TV history!) of Coconut Club in DC; and Wilton resident Brian Lewis\, of Westport’s The Cottage and Oko.\n\n\nThis tournament will feature two individual cook-offs with the winner of each going head-to-head for the final competition. There are four sous-chef positions available in exchange for a donation to Circle of Care\, contact us for this once in a lifetime opportunity to cook with a top chef.\n\n\nFinal competition kitchen has limited capacity but will be viewable from monitors.\n\n\nGeneral Admission ticket ($90): includes wine\, beer\, and tapas. SUMMARY:An Evening with Mitch Albom to Benefit Circle of Care
DESCRIPTION:Join the Circle of Care for an intimate conversation with NY Times best selling author Mitch Albom\, about his latest book\, Finding Chika. It will be an inspirational evening filled with funny and tender anecdotes and moving photos and video from his time with the amazing Chika and the story about a little girl\, an earthquake and the making of a family.\n\n\nThe author of Tuesdays With Morrie returns to nonfiction to celebrate Chika\, a young Haitian orphan who forever changed his heart. Through the operation of the Have Faith Haiti Orphanage in Port Au Prince and in reaction to the 2010 earthquake devastation\, Albom met his daughter\, Chika. The young orphan had developed a life-threatening brain tumor and with no doctors in Haiti able to help her\, Albom brought Chika to America. The story follows their two-year\, around-the-world journey to find a cure for an inoperable brain tumor. Told in hindsight\, and through conversations with Chika herself\, this is Albom at his most poignant and vulnerable. He creates a beautiful portrait of what it means to be a family\, regardless of how it is made. “This is the hardest yet most important book I have written or may ever write\,” says Albom.\n\n\nHosting the event is a Connecticut based organization dedicated to the same advocacy Albom addresses in Chika. Circle of Care is a non-profit supporting the journey families of children with cancer face. To support Circle of Care and their shared mission to help children and families with cancer\, Albom has waived his speaking fee for the Jan. 30 event.\n\n\nMitch Albom is a bestselling author\, screenwriter\, playwright and nationally syndicated columnist. Tuesdays with Morrie\, which spent four straight years atop The New York Times list\, is now the bestselling memoir of all time. Albom has founded nine charities in Detroit\, including the first-ever 24-hour medical clinic for homeless children in America. He also continues to operate and visit monthly the Have Faith Haiti Orphanage.\n\n\nJoin Circle of Care and its intimate conversation with Mitch Albom as he reflects on his life-changing experience with Chika through anecdotes\, photos\, and videos.
