Instead of asking for actual food items\, members will be in front of Village Market this weekend (Friday-Sunday\, June 26-28) asking shoppers to consider donating gift cards that can be purchased in-store at the cash register.\n\n\nCustomers can then deposit them upon leaving the store in a special box provided by a designated member of the Kiwanis Club. This process aligns with pandemic social distancing\, and subsequent distribution is simplified.\n\n\nKiwanis members will be in front of the Village Market between the hours of 11 a.m.-5 p.m.\, under the banner of Feed Wilton; in response to COVID-19 physical contact will be minimized\, and the focus will be on gift card donations to serve those who are food insecure within our community. SUMMARY:Family Volunteer Opportunity:  Wilton Kiwanis Pumpkin Patch
DESCRIPTION:Join the Wilton Kiwanis Club at its 2nd Family Service Day for a fun opportunity to volunteer together as a family\, on Saturday\, Sept. 28\, at 9 a.m.\, in the Pumpkin Patch at the Wilton Historical Society.\n\n\nWe will arrange pumpkins and gourds in the Pumpkin Patch\, getting the Patch ready to begin selling pumpkins\, hay\, cornstalks\, and more. Donuts will be on hand to give us energy.  Plus\, each volunteer family will get a $5 off coupon toward a pumpkin to take home.\n\n\nSales from the Pumpkin Patch will benefit the Wilton Community. Volunteering does more than make people feel good–it enhances social networks\, improves mental health\, and contributes to higher levels of happiness\, self-esteem\, self-worth\, and life satisfaction.\n\n\nThe Kiwanis Club is grateful to all the families that came out for the Club’s 1st Family Service Day at the Kiwanis Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast!  Thanks to them\, we were able to efficiently serve our traditional Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast to so many in the community. DESCRIPTION:Come to the annual Kiwanis Club Car Show and Cruise Night\, an informal gathering of cool cars from all around the area\, at the Piersall Building parking lot. Friday\, July 12 from 5:30 p.m. on. An annual Kiwanis event in memory of Geeb Fleming and Nick Allegretta\, who started the show 19 years ago. Classic cars\, old military vehicles\, farm tractors and motorcycles are all apt to be on premises for this family event.\n\n\nThe Kiwanis Club will be grilling Village Market hamburgers and hot dogs\, and serving sodas\, and we’ll have an ice cream truck on the premises. All adults are FREE.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSusan Granger is a product of Hollywood. Her biological father\, S. Sylvan Simon\, was a director and producer at M.G.M. and Columbia Pictures; her adoptive father\, Armand Deutsch\, produced movies at M.G.M.\n\n\nAs a child\, Susan appeared in movies with Abbott & Costello\, Red Skelton\, Lucille Ball\, Margaret O’Brien and Lassie. She attended Mills College in California\, studying journalism with Pierre Salinger\, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with highest honors in journalism.\n\n\nDuring her adult life\, Susan has been on radio and television as an anchorwoman and movie/drama critic\, syndicating her reviews/articles around the world and publishing a website. She has appeared on American Movie Classics and Turner Classic Movies. DESCRIPTION:Wilton’s annual Holiday Stroll will be held on Friday\, Dec. 7\, beginning at 4 p.m. on the Town Green in Wilton Center. This year the Wilton Chamber of Commerce\, Kiwanis Club of Wilton\, and the Town of Wilton have planned an expanded schedule of events to celebrate Hanukah\, Christmas\, and the arrival of winter. Community officials invite everyone to bring family and friends to Wilton Center to welcome in the season!\n\n\nThe schedule of events has been set to include:\n\n\n\nMenorah Lighting on the Town Green at 4 p.m.. GOOD Morning Wilton is pleased to participate in this year’s Holiday Stroll by providing traditional potato latkes (pancakes) for everyone to enjoy.\nChildren of all ages can participate in holiday crafts and activities on the Town Green\, featuring free cookie painting (nut free) with The Painted Cookie. Enjoy festive music provided by the Wilton High School band and local holiday carolers.\nTree lighting on the Town Green at 5 p.m. followed by Santa’s arrival. Santa will visit with children at the gazebo on the Town Green where they can share their holiday wishes and receive a special treat from Santa.\nMarshmallow Roast at Schenck’s Island from 5-8 p.m. sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Wilton. Enjoy hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows by the warmth of the campfire.\nWilton Library will be welcoming visitors with refreshments by the warmth of the fireplace. Visit the Holiday Book Sale and Art Exhibition for holiday gift giving.\nStrolling\, shopping and visiting through town to enjoy the generous hospitality of retailers\, restaurants\, and local businesses.\n\nThe Holiday Stroll is an outdoor event. SUMMARY:Things That Go Bump in the Night . . . Ghost Night
DESCRIPTION:When night settles on creaky old buildings during the scariest time of the year\, you never know what you may bump into . . . ! This spooky evening for kids ages 8-12 will take place on Saturday\, Oct. 13\, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Wilton Historical Society.\n\n\nDuring a candlelight walk through the dimly lit period rooms\, and up and down groaning stairs of the 1740 Betts House and the 1772 Fitch House\, kids will hear stories of the families who lived there. They will wend their way to the Burt Barn\, where deep in the darkest chamber they will hear classic scary Halloween stories told in the dark. The evening will conclude with games\, cider and donuts. Halloween costumes are optional.\n\n\nParents may drop their kids off\, but they are invited to linger and enjoy a glass of hard cider while waiting. Co-sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Wilton.\n\n\nRegistration required. Members’ cost is $15 per child\, with a maximum of $30 per family; non-members are $25 per child\, maximum $50 per family. DESCRIPTION:The Kiwanis Club of Wilton will have its third annual Oktoberfest at the Wilton YMCA. This is a fun-filled family event with German bier and wine\, bratwurst or chicken\, sauerkraut\, German potato salad\, hot dogs\, french fries and cold soda for the kids.\n\n\nMusic will be provided by the Alpine Squeeze who will play all types of music throughout the evening\, with Hans filling in with his accordion during breaks to keep people up and dancing. The event goes on rain or shine\, but seating will be in the pavilion or under tents\, so weather is not an issue.\n\n\nEntrance fee will be $35 for adults and will include a Bratwurst or Chicken platter with Bier or wine. Children under 21 will be $6\, and will have a hot dog\, French fries\, soda or water.
