DESCRIPTION:Please join Temple B’nai Chaim and invited guests to a special town hall meeting\, “Confronting Acts of Hate in Our Community\,” on Sunday\, Feb. 4\, at 2 p.m.\n\n\nIn light of the unprecedented rise in the number of hate-inspired incidents within our local communities\, Temple B’nai Chaim’s Social Action Group to Confront Antisemitism and Hate ─ in partnership with the Anti-Defamation League’s Kulanu Program\, the Riverbrook YMCA\, and the Wilton Library ─ will offer a two-hour community strengthening program led by faith and local community leaders.\n\n\nPanelists representing various faiths and marginalized groups ─ including Cantor Harriet Dunkerley (Temple B’nai Chaim)\, Father Reggie Norman (Our Lady of Fatima)\, Sohair Omar (Muslim community representative)\, Sarvesh Damle (Hindu community representative)\, and Rachel Simon\, ED (LGBT+ community\, Norwalk Triangle Center) ─ will share their communities’ sensitivities and experiences with hate incidents. U.S. Rep. Jim Himes will also speak.\n\n\nThe program sponsors hope that this community program will facilitate the formation of a supportive network that will meet periodically to follow up on this forum’s discussions and implement ways to prevent hate speech and acts of hate from invading our community. DESCRIPTION:The Social Action Committee at Temple B’nai Chaim is collecting diapers\, wipes\, and menstrual supplies for distribution to The Community Action Agency of Western CT\, Person to Person\, and the Domestic Violence Crisis Center. If enough items are donated The Diaper Bank of CT will be contacted about donating to other organizations in the area. Collection will be in the parking lot. Open packages are accepted. All sizes are welcome\, but generally\, sizes 3 and up are most in need. Lack of these supplies causes incredible amounts of stress on the families in need. Lack of menstrual supplies prevents women from attending school or jobs. These items are needed now in greater supply. SUMMARY:Blessing of the Pets at Temple B'nai Chaim
DESCRIPTION:Temple B’nai Chaim is holding a community-wide Blessing of the Pets. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend!\n\n\nAs we gather in the courtyard\, Rabbi Bearman and Student Cantor Hamstra will lead a brief ceremony where we celebrate the love\, laughter\, and companionship that our pets bring to our lives. We will also offer a prayer of mourning for anyone who is remembering a beloved pet.\n\n\nAll animals are welcome but should be either leashed or secured in travel cages.\n\n\nLocal photographers Bruce Miller and Jon Gordon will be on hand to take photos–including pet portraits–for participants to purchase.
