DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Fire Fighters Local 2233 and Wilton Fire Department cordially invite the Wilton community to their annual September 11 Memorial Service. The event takes place at Wilton Fire Headquarters\, Wednesday September 11\, 2024 at 10 a.m.\n\n\nThis year marks the twenty-third anniversary of the tragic and heroic events of September 11\, 2001. On that day\, 2\,974 lives were lost at the World Trade Center\, the Pentagon and the Flight 93 crash. As of mid-2024\, 4\,343 survivor’s and first responders have lost their lives due to the toxic exposure encountered after the attacks.\n\n\nWilton Fire Fighters are dedicated to “Never Forget” the loss and sacrifice of so many fellow Americans.\n\n\nJoin them for refreshments and reflections following the Ceremony.\n\n\n\n\n	See more related GMW stories...

SUMMARY:Disaster Preparedness:  Plan Ahead
DESCRIPTION:Wilton Library and Wilton’s Police and Fire Departments present a special online program on disaster preparedness and what you need to think about and do before the next major weather event.\n\n\nIn the aftermath of Tropical Storm Isaias\, it’s essential for people to think through how to prepare for future storms. The presenters\, Police Chief John Lynch and Fire Chief Geoffrey Herold\, will give the audience their experience-based advice as well as provide a checklist of important steps to take in advance of a major storm. They will also explain how best to cope with different kinds of weather events while they are happening and how to stay safe in a storm’s aftermath.\n\n\nOnline registration is required in order to receive the Zoom invitation link. Questions may be emailed in advance to Michael Bellacosa. The audience also will be able to submit questions using Zoom’s chat function at the end of the presentation.
