DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Garden Club is celebrating a very big birthday this year and everyone in town is invited to the Club’s first Daffodil Festival to take place on Saturday\, April 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wilton Historical Society. According to Nancy Greeley\, the Garden Club’s president\, “We thought a daffodil festival would be a fun way to kick off our centennial celebration and call attention to the thousands of daffodils we planted around town in the fall for our Wilton’s Golden Miles initiative.”\n\n\nThis will be a free one-way drive-through event with lots of contests for all ages to enter and festival-goers are encouraged to go a little “daffy\,” to think daffodils and participate in the fun\, including dressing up for the occasion. Come take a GREEN walk in Belknap Preserve!\n\n\nThe Wilton Conservation Commission will host a walk in Belknap Preserve this Sunday\, March 17\, beginning at 1 p.m.\, when Conservation commissioner Colleen O’Brien will lead the one hour walk. All are welcome\, including dogs on leash.\n\n\nFollowing the walk\, refreshments will be available allowing time to chat with neighbors\, as well as with members of the hosting conservation-oriented organizations–Norwalk River Watershed Association\, Wilton Garden Club\, Wilton Land Conservation Trust\, and Woodcock Nature Center\, all of which collaborate to support these walks.\n\n\nTo assure you are contacted should the walk be cancelled due to inclement weather\, preregister via email.\n\n\nDirections to Belknap Preserve:  from Wilton center\, take Rte. 7 north for 2.6 miles to Honey Hill Rd. on the right (east); follow Honey Hill Rd 0.7 miles to Wampum Hill Rd.; turn right (south) and the entrance is 200’ south on the right. SUMMARY:Take a Snowshoe Walk or Just a Hike with the Wilton Conservation Commission
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, Feb. 10\, the Wilton Conservation Commission will host a walk on the Vista Road Property. This park is one of the Town’s parks and open spaces and features mostly even terrain with many beautiful stone walls.\n\n\nColleen O’Brien\, one of the Town’s conservation commissioners\, will lead the walk\, beginning at 1 p.m.. It will last about an hour\, to be followed by hot chocolate\, hot cider and other refreshments\, with time to chat with neighbors and representatives of the four conservation-oriented organizations that support the Walks and Talks Program of the Conservation Commission–Wilton Garden Club\, Wilton Land Conservation Trust\, Norwalk River Watershed Association and Woodcock Nature Center. If there is snow on the ground\, walkers are invited to bring snowshoes. Dogs on leash are also welcome.\n\n\nThe Vista Road Property is 36 acres that spans the area between Bald Hill and Vista Roads and west of Rte. 33 as you drive north. Entry is along the left side of Bald Hill Rd.\, where a kiosk is set-in from the road opposite 58 Bald Hill Rd.. Parking is along the roadside. Directions from Wilton Town Center are to go north on Ridgefield Rd. (Rte. 33) past Vista Rd. to Bald Hill Rd..
