DESCRIPTION:Continuing its illustrious tradition\, on Friday\, May 8 from 12-6 p.m.\, and Saturday\, May 9 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.\, the Wilton Garden Club will hold its 87th annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale at the Wilton Town Center gazebo. This event will be held rain or shine\, and this year will be fully tented! \n\n\nWhether looking for the perfect gift for mom\, or a spectacular addition to one’s own garden\, visitors will find:\n\n\n\nLocally-grown and dug perennials and shrubs \nPollinator-friendly native species\nAnnuals\, and organic vegetable and herb plants grown from seed in the club’s own greenhouse \nA specially curated selection of rare dahlias\nMagnificent hanging baskets\nUnique bouquets and creative floral gifts designed and crafted by club members. \n\nNew this year: WGC’s Certified Master Gardeners will be wearing special identifying badges and circulating throughout the sale to lend their expert advice to curious shoppers and garden newbies. The Annuals Committee will also be providing bespoke garden solutions with a new service to help shoppers select specialized plants for container gardening\, and even pot their selections on-site in compostable paper pulp planters. And if those shopping carts start to feel heavy\, the Wilton Boy Scouts will be on hand to help customers carry and load their purchases into their vehicles. \n\n\nProceeds from the plant sale are used for WGC’s many philanthropic efforts which include:\n\n\n\nMaintaining most of the gardens in town (Post Office\, Veteran’s Memorial\, town sign at Rtes. 7/33\, Schenck’s Island Chess Park and Horseshoe Rd. DESCRIPTION:Calling all daffodil planters! This past April\, Wiltonians enjoyed the uplifting sight of more than 13\,000 cheerful daffodils blooming around town to welcome spring. This coming Saturday\, Nov. 2\, residents are invited to join the Wilton Garden Club in planting the final round of its daffodil beautification program known as the Golden Miles Initiative. The planting of 2\,000 bulbs will take place this Saturday at Wilton Town Hall (238 Danbury Rd.). Those interested in volunteering should meet at Town Hall at 9:30 a.m. and bring a shovel or trowel and garden gloves. DESCRIPTION:Calling all teens with green thumbs!! The free Green Teens youth gardening program’s summer session begins Monday\, June 24\, from 9-11 a.m. at Trackside Teen Center. All rising middle and high school students are welcome. No gardening experience is necessary\, just an interest in nature and in helping others\, as the program is rooted (no pun intended!) in community service. The program will be held at Trackside every Monday in the summer through Aug. 19. Sign-ups are welcome at any time\, and registration is ongoing.\n\n\nAn initiative of Wilton Garden Club (WGC) and Trackside Teen Center\, Green Teens is led by experienced WGC gardeners. Its participants engage in hands-on activities like designing garden beds\, planting\, maintaining and harvesting\, as well as learning how to cook with the produce grown in their gardens. They also hear from occasional guest speakers and make creative garden art projects.
