Each month includes Dinner Club get-togethers\, Lunch Club get-togethers\, Wednesday morning walks on the NRVT Trail\, Book Club meeting nights\, and regular monthly club meetings. Visit the website for details\, to join\, and to RSVP.\n\n\nA highlight again this year will be a small-group trip to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx\, led by none other than Arthur Avenue expert and Wilton First Selectman Toni Boucher. On that day\, the group will tour bakeries\, delicatessens\, shops\, and eat together at one of the many delicious and authentic Italian restaurants there.\n\n\nThe Wilton Woman’s Club was founded in 1966 by Betty Sternad and friends.  Since the start\, the club has contributed to the common good through different community service projects. Today\, the WWC is the only group that goes to the CT Food Bank each week to bring fresh meat and produce to the Wilton Food Pantry. The club also serves lunch to seniors at Ogden House and makes meals at holiday times to deliver to homebound residents.\n\n\nLast April\, the WWC held its 15th Annual Fashion Show Fundraiser at Rolling Hills Country Club and raised almost $25\,000 to donate to Waveny-Visiting Nurse & Hospice to provide professional caregiver respite. The 2025 beneficiary will be announced on Dec. 4 at the WWC Holiday Lunch.\n\n \n\n\n“We look forward to meeting more women in Wilton this year\, contributing to the community\, and strengthening bonds. Come join us and meet a whole new group of people! We look forward to seeing you\,” WWC President Maria Wilcox said.\n\n\n\n\n\n	See more related GMW stories...

SUMMARY:Author Talk: Stephanie Kramer - Carry Strong: An Empowered Approach to Navigating Pregnancy and Work
DESCRIPTION:Stephanie Kramer is the author of Carry Strong: An Empowered Approach to Navigating Pregnancy and Work. This ‘labor’ or love was written over three years late at night and during her children’s naps because of her desire to create a groundswell of support. With original research and hundreds of inspiring interviews\, she does just that— sharing five powerful principles to find perspective\, create your balance\, cultivate community\, communicate your needs\, and embrace your shift in identity throughout each phase of pregnancy\, starting with the moment you decide you want to become a working mom-to-be. In Carry Strong\, Kramer flips the script. This isn’t about powering through pregnancy at work. It’s about being powerful and pregnant at work.\n\n\nKramer is a tenured beauty industry executive today serving as the Chief Human Resources Officer of L’Oréal USA in New York City and an adjunct professor of management communication in the graduate business program at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She is the proud mother of two young children and deeply believes that you can do it all\, not at the same time\, and absolutely not alone.\n\n\nThis author talk is co-sponsored by the Wilton Woman’s Club.\n\n\nElm Street Books will be selling copies after the talk. A portion of the proceeds goes to Wilton Library.\n\n\nThe media sponsor of our author talks is GOOD Morning Wilton.\n\n \n\n\nRegistration is required. Register on the Wilton Library’s website or call 203.762.6350.\n\n\n\n\n	See more related GMW stories...

SUMMARY:Women's Suffrage Centennial in Wilton: Wilton Woman's Club Short Story Contest for Girls
DESCRIPTION:2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment guaranteeing and protecting the right to vote for (some) women. The State of Connecticut has launched the CT Women’s Suffrage Commission and is encouraging municipalities and non profits to work together to celebrate this anniversary.  A number of Wilton organizations have planned events and activities to celebrate this important milestone. \n\nThe Wilton Woman’s Club is holding a short story contest on the theme of the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage. Girls who are Wilton residents in grades 9-12 are encouraged to submit a fictional short story related to American women gaining the right to vote. Deadline is April 27\, 2020.\n\n\nThe topic can be anything. Some hypothetical examples:\n\n\n\nA story of an 18 year old woman in 1920\nA sci-fi story about a parallel universe where women never got the right to vote\nA mystery about a conspiracy to prevent passage of the amendment\n\nRequirements:\n\n\nThe story must be 2\,500 words or less\, typewritten\, in English. It must be related to American women’s right to vote. The story must be original\, and written by the submitter\, who must be a female resident of Wilton\, CT\, currently in grades 9-12.\n\n\nThe deadline is 11:59 p.m.\, April 27\, 2020.\n\n \n\n\nEmail a PDF or Word document by the deadline. Include entrant’s full name\, email\, and home address with the submission. By submitting\, entrants agree to all contest rules.\n\n\nPrize:\n\n\nThe prize is $250.\n\n\nJudging:\n\n\nThe judging panel will be members of the Wilton Woman’s Club.\n\n\nThe winner will be chosen based on how interesting the story is\, does it relate to women’s suffrage\, and does it have correct spelling and grammar.\n\n\nNames will be removed from entries so judging is blind.\n\n\nDaughters of WWC club members are eligible but receive no preference.\n\n\nThe winner will be announced on June 1\, 2020.\n\n\nFor more information\, please visit www.wiltonwomansclub.com. \n\n\n\n	See more related GMW stories...
