Another nice and dry week (June 18-24) is ahead for Wilton, featuring sunshine and above average, summer-like temperatures overall. By the weekend, it may become unsettled, unfortunately, but there’s still plenty of time to adjust this forecast with changes likely.
Monday, June 18: Monday is going to be a scorcher of a day, even hotter than during the weekend. But with this extreme heat comes its dangers. Be sure you stay hydrated by drinking lots of water and taking frequent breaks by going into an air-conditioned environment. This is due to forecast high temperatures in the mid- to perhaps upper-90s. This time, humidity will be high with dew points at about 70 degrees. This indicates an oppressive air mass, and this humidity will make it feel like the 100s outside. It will also be mostly sunny outside but at least it will be a breezy day with gusts up to 30 mph, so the breeze will feel somewhat nice in the furnace-like environment.
Tuesday, June 19: Tuesday will be yet another hot day but thanks to a passing cold front with possible thunderstorms that may pass through overnight, dew points (humidity) will decrease as the day progresses. Winds will be a bit lighter and high temperatures will be “cooler,” down into the mid- to upper-80s. Following high clouds early, it will be a generally sunny day.
Wednesday, June 20: Wednesday looks like a very similar day to Tuesday. It will be another beauty, featuring sunny skies, a light wind, dry air, and a high temperature in the mid 80s, which is five- to 10 degrees above average.
Thursday, June 21: Other than a few clouds, Thursday will be a mostly sunny day. Humidity will increase, however, due to shifting winds now coming up from the south. Along with the increase in moisture will come an increase in high temperatures as well. I’m expecting it to reach 90 degrees. This weather will be quite fitting for the Summer Solstice, which is the longest day of the year and the first day of astronomical summer.
Friday, June 22: Clouds will be a bit more present on Friday but it will still be nice and bright outside. A mix of sun and clouds will stick around along with the chance for a thunderstorm. Depending on how widespread these storms are, it may keep temperatures down. Therefore, as of press time, there is high uncertainty in regards to Friday’s high temperatures, with a range from 75 to 90 degrees.
Saturday, June 23: The weekend looks fairly nice although we’ll have a slight chance for rain on both days. The best bet for dry weather is Saturday, with high pressure overhead. Sunny skies and a high temperature of about 90 degrees will make for a nice but hot summer day. The air mass will feel sticky but humidity levels won’t be super high, reaching those oppressive levels. At press time, I’m predicting that the weather should be conducive for Wilton High School’s graduation.
Sunday, June 24: On Sunday, there is the slight chance for an afternoon thunderstorm. Otherwise, there will be sunshine and seasonably warm conditions. These chances for storms will arise more frequently beginning this weekend due to our return to an upper-level pattern with a northwest flow, which often produces active weather. Based on the model guidance, however, rainfall should still be below average through the end of June while the Central US experiences significantly above-average moisture.
