SUMMARY:Ambler Farm Stand
DESCRIPTION:A variety of organic produce\, Ambler Farm’s own maple syrup and more make Ambler Farm’s farm stand a must-not-miss on Saturdays\, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.\, June through October. The farm produces dozens of varieties of vegetables\, fruits\, flowers and herbs\, yielding as much as 15\,000 pounds of produce annually. The farm stand’s offerings may change week to week\, but the outstanding quality of the produce does not and the harvest only grows more bountiful throughout the growing season!\n\n\nAfter you fill your market bag we hope you have time to stroll the farm and meet our newest residents — Nigerian dwarf goats Caramel and S’more\, and Annabelle\, a Flemish giant rabbit\, and her young\, fast-growing bunnies.\n\n\nAmbler Farm is owned by the Town of Wilton\, but managed and operated by Friends of Ambler Farm\, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.\n\n\n\n\n	See more related GMW stories...

SUMMARY:The Great Pumpkin Drop Off
DESCRIPTION:Turn a holiday that’s traditionally orange into one that’s a bit more green!\n\n\nWilton Go Green is partnering with Ambler Farm to offer our first Pumpkin Compost Drop-Off! Visit the farm any time from dawn to dusk between November 1 and 5 to drop off your jack-o-lanterns\, pumpkins or gourds to be composted right here at the farm. Please note\, no paint\, glitter\, googly eyes or candles are compostable as they can contaminate the compost when processed. No other food scraps or other organic materials can be dropped off.\n\n\nPull into the main entrance at 257 Hurlbutt St. and head to the top of the driveway by the Red Barn. Look for signage for the Pumpkin Drop and you can drop your goods in the bins provided.\n\n\nWhy should you compost your pumpkins?\n\n\n1.3 billion pounds of pumpkins sent to incinerators and landfills annually in the U.S.\n\n \n\n\nDiverting this material from incineration cuts pollution generated by burning waste\, which negatively impacts public health.\n\n\nWhen left to decompose in the landfill\, that food waste produces methane gas\, a greenhouse gas that’s far more potent than carbon dioxide.\n\n\nPumpkins and gourds are 90% water and are full of nutrients. Composting the organic materials captures these nutrients and water\, creating a soil amendment to benefit our parks\, gardens and farms.\n\n\n\n\n	See more related GMW stories...
