DESCRIPTION:Turn a holiday that’s traditionally orange into one that’s a bit more green!\n\n\nWilton Go Green is partnering with Ambler Farm to offer our first Pumpkin Compost Drop-Off! Visit the farm any time from dawn to dusk between November 1 and 5 to drop off your jack-o-lanterns\, pumpkins or gourds to be composted right here at the farm. Please note\, no paint\, glitter\, googly eyes or candles are compostable as they can contaminate the compost when processed. No other food scraps or other organic materials can be dropped off.\n\n\nPull into the main entrance at 257 Hurlbutt St. and head to the top of the driveway by the Red Barn. Look for signage for the Pumpkin Drop and you can drop your goods in the bins provided.\n\n\nWhy should you compost your pumpkins?\n\n\n1.3 billion pounds of pumpkins sent to incinerators and landfills annually in the U.S.\n\n \n\n\nDiverting this material from incineration cuts pollution generated by burning waste\, which negatively impacts public health.\n\n\nWhen left to decompose in the landfill\, that food waste produces methane gas\, a greenhouse gas that’s far more potent than carbon dioxide.\n\n\nPumpkins and gourds are 90% water and are full of nutrients. Composting the organic materials captures these nutrients and water\, creating a soil amendment to benefit our parks\, gardens and farms.\n\n\n\n\n	See more related GMW stories...

Don’t forget to bring reusable shopping bags.\n\n\nThey will sell arugula\, beets\, bok choy\, broccoli raab\, cabbage\, carrots\, celeriac\, celery\, cilantro\, collards\, daikon radishes\, dandelion greens\, dill\, elephant garlic\, fennel\, garlic\, fresh ginger\, Jerusalem artichokes (AKA sunchokes)\, baby kale\, kale\, leeks\, lettuce mix\, lettuce heads\, Mexican sour gherkins\, onions\, parsley\, parsnips\, green peppers\, sweet peppers\, hot peppers\, shishito peppers\, perpetual spinach\, potatoes\, radishes\, scallions\, sweet potatoes (original and Japanese)\, Swiss shard\, tatsoi\, watermelon radishes\, Butternut\, Delicata\, Honeynut\, and Kabocha winter squash. DESCRIPTION:Every year during Thanksgiving week\, Ambler Farm‘s Farmer Jonathan and his team harvest fresh produce from the garden ready just in time for holiday tables. This year’s farm stand will be inside the white carriage barn on Monday\, Nov. 22 from 3 to 6 pm and Tuesday\, Nov. 23 from 9 am to 12 pm. Don’t forget to bring reusable shopping bags.\n\n\nThey will sell arugula\, beets\, bok choy\, broccoli raab\, cabbage\, carrots\, celeriac\, celery\, cilantro\, collards\, daikon radishes\, dandelion greens\, dill\, elephant garlic\, fennel\, garlic\, fresh ginger\, Jerusalem artichokes (AKA sunchokes)\, baby kale\, kale\, leeks\, lettuce mix\, lettuce heads\, Mexican sour gherkins\, onions\, parsley\, parsnips\, green peppers\, sweet peppers\, hot peppers\, shishito peppers\, perpetual spinach\, potatoes\, radishes\, scallions\, sweet potatoes (original and Japanese)\, Swiss shard\, tatsoi\, watermelon radishes\, Butternut\, Delicata\, Honeynut\, and Kabocha winter squash. Bourbon maple syrup\, apples\, apple cider\, and pears will also be for sale.\n\n\nAnyone interested in bulk quantities (for a discount) of cabbage\, carrots\, celeriac\, garlic\, kale\, onions\, green peppers\, sweet peppers\, hot and shishito peppers (You can freeze peppers)\, sweet potatoes\, Butternut\, Delicata\, HoneyNut\, and Kabocha winter squashes please email Farmer Jonathan. Cash\, check or credit cards are accepted.\n\n\nThe self-service refrigerator is also set up with limited produce available for purchase at the Red Barn. For the self-serve station\, Ambler Farm can only accept cash or check.\n\n\nThe vegetables are organically grown in the farm’s greenhouse from seed in a compost-based\, biologically active potting soil\, and have been lovingly tended by our Farmer Jonathan. It includes six tickets\, a creative\, curated\, and convenient farm-chic tablescape set on a reserved picnic table\, and amenities by Seasonal Celebrations by Lana.
