SUMMARY:Food Truck Festival–Trackside Teen Center Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Wilton will feed its collective belly\, as Trackside Teen Center will feed its financial need\, all with the 2nd Annual Wilton Food Truck Festival\, scheduled for Saturday\, Aug. 17. The community event has quickly become one of the organizations largest fundraisers\, something organizers say is especially needed to help with center’s financial challenges and a severe budget deficit.\n\n\nUp to 20 food trucks will return to Miller-Driscoll School on Aug. 17 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; in addition to a wide variety of meals on wheels\, the event will feature local musicians\, kid friendly entertainment and over a dozen vendors to delight and entertain attendees throughout the day.\n\n\nEntry is $10 per car.\n\n\nTrackside Teen Center\, as a private non-profit\, is the uniquely valuable place for Wilton teens. The center provides free drop-in hours after school and runs a number of programs ranging from arts to improv\, gaming to self-esteem development for pre- teens and teens in grades 6–12. As a safe place that is not home\, and not school\, organization official call Trackside the ‘in-between’–where pre-teens and teens can come to socialize\, explore new interests\, meet new friends and most importantly just be themselves in a supervised environment.\n\n\n\n\n	See more related GMW stories...

In this session\, we’ll examine Playwork\, a UK-based professional approach to supporting children’s play. We will explore key vocabulary and theories on the processes of play (including common points of friction) and look at material and social environments which can encourage collaborative\, inclusive and satisfying experiences for all. We’ll reflect upon our own responses to children’s needs and interests\, including specific ways to know when to step back and ways to step in. DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Family Bicycle Rodeo will be held in the parking lot of Miller-Driscoll School on Saturday\, April 6\, from 10 a.m. to noon (Rain date:  April 7). All ages are welcome. Drop in any time between 10-11 a.m.. The course closes at noon. The guided road ride for ages 12 and up departs at 10:30 a.m.\, but please arrive at 10:00 to allow time for the safety check.\n\n\nAfter having their bikes inspected\, participants will be guided through the rodeo course\, where they will learn and practice skills such as hand signaling\, turning in a limited space\, and maneuvering through obstacles.\n\n\nRegistration is recommended\, online. SUMMARY:Annual Household HazWaste Collection Event–TOWN of WILTON
DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Conservation Commission will be sponsoring Wilton’s Annual HazWaste Collection Day on Saturday\, Oct. 13. This event enables Wilton residents to safely dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste by bringing it to the collection where a certified hazardous waste contractor will provide appropriate and responsible disposal of the unwanted products.\n\n\nNearly all households contain some household hazardous waste (HHW). HHW is generally defined as a household waste that is corrosive (such as acids and alkalis)\, flammable\, reactive or toxic (poisonous). Common HHW includes paint thinners\, pool chemicals\, pesticides\, mercury thermometers\, and gasoline. When these products are no longer wanted or needed\, they become hazardous waste and must be disposed of responsibly and safely so that they do not lead to personal injury and do not enter the food chain or contaminate drinking water supplies. Household hazardous waste collection programs provide an opportunity to manage these wastes in an environmentally safe manner.\n\n\nCommon household products that should not end up in our household trash and will be accepted at the event include:\n\n\nAerosol Cans (not empty)\nAntifreeze\nArts/Craft Supplies\nAsphalt/Roof Sealer\nBathroom Cleaners\nBrake Fluid\nChemical Fertilizers\nChemistry Kits\nDegreasers\nDisinfectants\nDrain Cleaners\nFire Extinguishers\nFlea Powders/Sprays\nFloor Care Products\nFungicides\nFurniture/Car Polish\nGasoline\nHair Dyes & Sprays\nHerbicides\nHousehold Batteries\nInsecticides/Pesticides\nKerosene\nMetal Polish\nMoth Balls\nNail Polish/Remover\nOven Cleaners\nPaint Strippers/Thinners\nPhoto Chemicals\nPool Chemicals\nRodent Poison\nSolvents\nTile/Toilet Cleaners\nTransmission Fluid\n\n\nThis event is for the collection of household hazardous waste only. Paint and electronics will not be accepted.\n\n \n\n\nThis annual fall event will be held on Saturday\, Oct. 13\, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Miller-Driscoll School Parking Lot on Wolfpit Rd.. The collection is open to all Wilton residents\, as well as residents of Norwalk\, Darien\, Greenwich\, Stamford\, Weston and Westport. Proof of residency (a driver’s license) is required.
