SUMMARY:Free Youth Gardening Program at Trackside Teen Center
DESCRIPTION:Calling all teens with green thumbs!! The free Green Teens youth gardening program’s summer session begins Monday\, June 24\, from 9-11 a.m. at Trackside Teen Center. All rising middle and high school students are welcome. No gardening experience is necessary\, just an interest in nature and in helping others\, as the program is rooted (no pun intended!) in community service. The program will be held at Trackside every Monday in the summer through Aug. 19. Sign-ups are welcome at any time\, and registration is ongoing.\n\n\nAn initiative of Wilton Garden Club (WGC) and Trackside Teen Center\, Green Teens is led by experienced WGC gardeners. Its participants engage in hands-on activities like designing garden beds\, planting\, maintaining and harvesting\, as well as learning how to cook with the produce grown in their gardens. They also hear from occasional guest speakers and make creative garden art projects. From last year’s growing season\, Green Teens donated 232 pounds of fresh\, organic produce to the Wilton Food Pantry and 100 floral arrangements to the Wilton Senior Center and Wilton Commons\, all from the gardens they tended.\n\n\n“Our hope with Green Teens is to get more young people involved with creating and maintaining vegetable gardens\, to teach them about the importance of healthy foods\, and to give back to the community\,” WGC’s youth gardening committee co-chair Laurie Musilli said. “There’s something in this program for everyone.”\n\n\nTo register\, visit the Trackside Teen Center website or contact Musilli via email.\n\n\n\n\n	See more related GMW stories...

SUMMARY:Get Moving for Mental Heath
DESCRIPTION:Join community residents\, businesses and youth groups to Get Moving! The festival was created by five Wilton students that are the currently elected Ms. President Wilton team with the idea that being more connected to the community can help kids when they feel down or isolated.\n\n\nTrackside Teen Center in Wilton will host the festival held September 9 from 10:00 a.m. to – 1:00 p.m. At the festival\, businesses will set up booths to showcase what they can offer to kids to help them feel part of the community and share how that activity can help boost confidence\, and physical ability\, create endorphins and give them a place where they feel safe. And the kids get to try it out!\n\n\nWhen kids visit ALL of the booths at the festival and get a stamp on their card\, they get free ice cream! And for each booth that is visited\, kids will gain a ticket that they can drop in jars to enter to win other raffle prizes offered by the participating businesses or donated by others in the community.\n\n\nSome of the stations will include: yoga\, dance\, karate\, art\, and music offered by businesses in Wilton and lots of nearby towns. In addition to various groups that have committed to support the event at this point\, the Girl Scouts of CT will be on site with the opportunity for every Girl Scout to earn the Wellness\, Mind\, Body and Spirit patch by completing activities offered throughout the event. Many of the activities also can help complete badge work for other Girl Scout badges depending on the age level.\n\n\nThe Ms. President Wilton Team would love to welcome kids of all ages\, families and other members of the community to come out and enjoy a morning committed to expanding community connections and finding activities to improve overall mental health!\n\n \n\n\n\n\n	See more related GMW stories...
