DESCRIPTION:The Friends of Weir Farm will host a Family Fun Day focusing on dragonflies\, with fun dragonfly crafts\, coloring and activities. Find out how Weir Farm National Historic Park monitors mercury pollution through dragonfly larvae. Learn about the water cycle\, and complete your own water cycle activity.\n\n\nStop by the Friends of Weir Farm tent near the Visitor Center from 1 to 4 p.m. for an afternoon of special Junior Ranger activities. Earn a Junior Ranger Badge by completing one of the fun dragonfly activities.\n\n\nWhile you are at the park\, hike to the Weir Pond or Take Part in Art and create your very own artwork! Step back into history and tour the Weir House and artists’ studios. Go on an Art Bears Scavenger Hunt and check out the colorful outdoor Art Bear installation. DESCRIPTION:Come and explore Weir Farm\, the National Park located in Wilton! FREE Guided Walk\, Saturday\, Sept. 7\, 10-11 a.m..\n\n\nAmanda Lord\, Park Ranger and Wilton resident\, will lead you on a guided walk during which she will introduce you to Julian Alden Weir\, a world-class artist who lived and worked here from 1882 to 1919. We will walk in his footsteps through the landscape that inspired his Impressionist paintings. Our gentle hike will take us by historic stone walls and natural wonders\, as we make our way to Weir Pond\, which was added by Weir in 1896 as a place for fishing and recreation. Dogs on leash are welcome. Parking is limited\, so please carpool if possible. Tour meets in the Overflow Parking Lot. Please watch for a Park Ranger in a reflective vest who will direct you to the parking area. SUMMARY:Weir Farm National Historic Site's Art in the Park Festival
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, Aug. 25\, Weir Farm National Historic Site\, Friends of Weir Farm\, the Weir Farm Art Center\, and Gilbert & Bennett Cultural Center will host the park’s third annual Art in the Park Festival. Artists are encouraged to bring their supplies\, and the park will provide supplies for those who don’t have their own. All visitors will have the opportunity to create works of art and enter the contest.\n\n\nFollowing the festival\, all entries are eligible to be part of an exhibit at G&B Cultural Center for the month of September\, with a reception to follow on weir farm. The park welcomes artists\, neighbors\, national park lovers\, and visitors of all ages and experience levels to create Art in the Park during this free day-long event.
