Fall means birds are migrating back to their southern homes\, so species will be stopping here in Connecticut to refuel for the long journey ahead. On this walk we will talk about how birds prepare for migration\, learn about some of the species traveling back to the tropics\, and discuss what birds will be remaining with us or arriving for the winter. If you are new to birdwatching\, you are sure to learn about at least one species you have never heard of! Bringing binoculars is recommended.\n\n\nThis program is geared more towards adults\, although kids are still welcome.  Registration is required. Even furry family members will enjoy some goodies along the trek courtesy of Ridgefield Pet. Trek\, taste and discover with Woodcock Nature Center!\n\n\nTickets are $55 for adults 21 and older and $25 for kids 3 and older.\n\n\n21+ admission includes:\n\n\n\nOne souvenir tasting glass\nOne-of-a-kind trek through the woods and wetlands of Woodcock with beer and soda sampling at five stations along the way\nComplimentary soda tasting\, music\, snacks\, and water\n\nAdditional food\, beer and soda will be available for purchase.\n\n \n\n\nAll tickets must be purchased in advance. DESCRIPTION:Woodcock Nature Center welcomes runners\, hikers and walkers of all ages at its annual Where the Wild Things Run 5K and Kids Fun Run on Sunday\, Oct. 16. For several decades\, this event has highlighted Woodcock’s nearly five miles of publicly accessible trails and raised money for the center’s educational programs.\n\n\nThe popular 5K\, which kicks off at 10 a.m.\, is 90% trail with a mix of groomed trails\, rugged trails and narrow bridges/boardwalks. Walkers are also welcome. The terrain of the 5k will highlight the diversity and beauty of the Woodcock property. A shorter 1K Kids Fun Run geared towards ages 6 and up kicks off at 9:30 a.m. and is guided by a Woodcock team member. Parents are also welcome to accompany their children.\n\n\nAfter the Kids Fun Run families are invited to stick around for a special post-race party on the nature center grounds including drinks with Ridgefield’s new Quartertone Coffee Roasters\, Smootch beverages and lunch for purchase from West Lane Deli\, plus live music with School of Rock\, sports treatments with HSS/Stamford Health\, playground fun\, nature crafts\, and the not-to-be-missed annual Woodcock live turtle race!\n\n\nWoodcock welcomes interested businesses to inquire about sponsorship opportunities which can include inclusion on the race t-shirt\, cross-promotions and a table at the race finish. SUMMARY:Woodcock Nature Center's Frothy Forage: Hiking\, Food\, Soda and Beer Tasting
DESCRIPTION:Woodcock Nature Center presents Frothy Forage\, a one-of-a-kind hiking\, soda and beer tasting experience for the entire family including animal encounters\, kid’s activities\, soda sampling\, live music\, and guaranteed fun on Saturday\, April 24 (rain date: April 25) 12:00 pm -5:00 pm. At secret locations along the Woodcock trails\, participants will sample unique craft beers courtesy of event partner Nod Hill Brewery in Ridgefield.\n\n\nAn event for the entire family\, Frothy Forage also includes samplings of Connecticut’s own Hosmer Mountain Soda products including their famous root beer\, birch beer\, sarsaparilla\, and raspberry sodas. Furry family members are welcome too and will enjoy some sips and goodies along the trek courtesy of Ridgefield Pet. Local sponsors Outdoors Sports Center and Wilton Go Green will also greet guests along their trek with special surprises for everyone.\n\n\nFrothy Forage will delight the senses throughout the afternoon with everything from animal encounters\, kid’s activities\, and doughnuts from Uncle Leo’s to live music at the Woodcock pavilion and food for purchase from Bethel’s Taproot Restaurant.\n\n\nAll proceeds from this unique event will benefit environmental education programs at Woodcock Nature Center.\n\n\n21+ admission is $55 and includes one souvenir tasting glass per ticket purchased\, snacks and goodies from our sponsors\, and a one-of-a-kind trek through the woods and wetlands of Woodcock with Nod Hill Beer sampling at stations along the way. Food will be available for purchase from Taproot Restaurant’s food truck On the Fly until 5:00 pm.\n\n \n\n\nSpectators\, designated drivers\, and kids are $20 and welcome to enjoy the non-alcoholic offerings and on-site activities. Leashed dogs are welcome.
