SUMMARY:Woodcock Nature Center: Where the Wild Things Run 5K and Kids Fun Run
DESCRIPTION:Woodcock Nature Center welcomes runners\, hikers\, and walkers of all ages at its annual Where the Wild Things Run 5K and Kids Fun Run on Sunday\, Oct. 3 at 8:30 am. For several decades\, this event has highlighted Woodcock’s nearly 5 miles of publicly accessible trails and raised money for the center’s educational programs.\n\n\nThe popular 5K\, which kicks off at 9 am is 90% trail with a mix of groomed trails\, rugged trails\, and narrow bridges/boardwalks. Walkers are also welcome. The terrain of the 5k will highlight the diversity and beauty of the Woodcock property.\n\n\nA shorter 1K Kids Fun Run geared towards ages 6 and up kicks off at 8:30 am and is guided by a Woodcock team member. Parents are also welcome to accompany their children.\n\n\nAfter the Kids Fun Run\, families are invited to stick around for some unique post-race festivities on the nature center grounds including snacks\, music\, games\, playground fun\, nature crafts\, and the annual live turtle race at 9:15 am. \n\n\nWoodcock welcomes interested businesses to inquire about sponsorship opportunities which can include inclusion on the race t-shirt\, cross-promotions\, and a table at the race finish. Special thanks to current sponsors Fairfield County Bank\, Outdoor Sports Center\, and Ridgefield Running Company.\n\n \n\n\nOrganizers are expecting 150 participants\, so runners are encouraged to register in advance online. Race fees are $35 for the 5K and $20 for the Kids Fun Run. Race t-shirts will only be guaranteed to participants registered by Wednesday\, Sept. 15. DESCRIPTION:Woodcock Nature Center presents Frothy Forage\, a one-of-a-kind hiking\, soda and beer tasting experience for the entire family including animal encounters\, kid’s activities\, soda sampling\, live music\, and guaranteed fun on Saturday\, April 24 (rain date: April 25) 12:00 pm -5:00 pm. At secret locations along the Woodcock trails\, participants will sample unique craft beers courtesy of event partner Nod Hill Brewery in Ridgefield.\n\n\nAn event for the entire family\, Frothy Forage also includes samplings of Connecticut’s own Hosmer Mountain Soda products including their famous root beer\, birch beer\, sarsaparilla\, and raspberry sodas. Furry family members are welcome too and will enjoy some sips and goodies along the trek courtesy of Ridgefield Pet. Local sponsors Outdoors Sports Center and Wilton Go Green will also greet guests along their trek with special surprises for everyone.\n\n\nFrothy Forage will delight the senses throughout the afternoon with everything from animal encounters\, kid’s activities\, and doughnuts from Uncle Leo’s to live music at the Woodcock pavilion and food for purchase from Bethel’s Taproot Restaurant.\n\n\nAll proceeds from this unique event will benefit environmental education programs at Woodcock Nature Center.\n\n\n21+ admission is $55 and includes one souvenir tasting glass per ticket purchased\, snacks and goodies from our sponsors\, and a one-of-a-kind trek through the woods and wetlands of Woodcock with Nod Hill Beer sampling at stations along the way. SUMMARY:Woodcock Nature Center - Under the Harvest Moon Benefit Event
DESCRIPTION:One of Woodcock Nature Center’s largest fundraisers\, Under the Harvest Moon on Friday\, Sept. 13\, at 7 p.m.\, welcomes 150 guests in its candlelit pavilion for an evening of great food\, good music\, silent and live auctions and great company. A highlight of the event is local as chef Sarah Bouissou of Sarah’s Wine Bar will prepare a generous farm-to-table tasting with produce from Horseshoe Farm\, Ambler Farm\, and The Hickories. Ridgefield’s No. 109 Cheese and Wine will provide a sampling of artisanal cheeses; wine will be provided by Cellar XV and beer will be served courtesy of  Nod Hill Brewery.\n\n\nThe evening includes a silent and live auction for a variety of popular items including unique Woodcock experiences such as catered dinners on our preserve from local chefs and a very popular VIP Wreath Festival package. All proceeds support Woodcock’s environmental education initiatives that connect people to the habitats\, plants\, and animals of this area to build awareness\, nurture understanding\, and advance conservation.\n\n\nTickets are $90 and may be purchased on the Woodcock Nature Center website beginning July 22.\n\n\n\n\n	See more related GMW stories...

DESCRIPTION:Join Outdoor Sports Center for a guided hike and trail run through the Woodcock Nature Center as part of our new Summer Hike Series\, happening once a month at a local trail system in our surrounding area. Choose between two different pace groups of either trail running or a leisurely hike that will range from 2-4 miles at a moderate pace. We are excited to be joined on these hikes by Merrell\, who will be offering a chance to test out their new line of trail running shoes and hikers (the Trail Glove 5\, or Nova and Antora). We will also be setting up a trail mix bar for everyone to make their own snack before the hike begins. Don’t forget\, Merrell is generously offering free swag at each hike and a swag bag raffle to one lucky winner.\n\n\nMark your calendars for Saturday\, Aug. 3\, to meet at 9 a.m. at Woodcock Nature Center (54 Deer Run Rd.)
