The popular Jazz in the Garden returns featuring the Dan Brubeck Quartet on Sunday, Sept. 20, from 3-5 p.m.. Sponsored by Weir Farm Art Center and hosted by Weir Farm National Historic Site, the family-friendly Jazz in the Garden receives generous support from Bankwell of Wilton and the Karen and William Tell Foundation, with special thanks to Catherine and Ed Romer. Proceeds benefit the Artist-in-Residence program administered by the Weir Farm Art Center, which draws talented artists from around the world, giving them a chance to create in the inspirational landscape of Weir Farm National Historic Site.

Janice Hess, Weir Farm Art Center executive director, says, “We are excited to welcome The Dan Brubeck Quartet, with Dan Brubeck on drums, Adam Thomas, vocals and bass, and featuring Brubeck mainstays Chuck Lamb on piano and Mike DeMicco on guitar to celebrate our twentieth annual Jazz in the Garden concert at Weir Farm National Historic Site and the release of their new CD.”

The Dan Brubeck Quartet will play favorites and selections from the recently released 2-CD set, “Celebrating the music and lyrics of Dave and Iola Brubeck,” which garnered rave reviews from npr.com, downbeat.com, and many others. Iola Brubeck, Dave’s wife and partner in music and life, wrote the lyrics, so ably rendered by Thomas. According to James Hale, of downbeat.com, it’s “… a labor of love on many levels, and it shows.”

All parking for the event will be at the Branchville Elementary School at 40 Florida Rd., off of Rt. 102/Branchville Rd., across from Ancona’s Wines & Liquors in Ridgefield. Free shuttles will run to and from Weir Farm National Historic Site continuously between 2-6 p.m.. No parking is available at Weir Farm National Historic Site or along neighborhood residential roads.

No tickets will be sold at Weir Farm National Historic Site. Tickets can be purchased online, by visiting the event’s website or at the Branchville Elementary School the day of the event beginning at 2 p.m.. Cash, check, and credit cards will be accepted. Adult tickets are $20.Tickets for teens 13-18 are $10. Children 12 and under are free. As usual the concert will go on rain or shine.

Jazz in the Garden concerts are held in memory of Les Young, a long-time Weir Farm Art Center supporter, education advocate, and State Representative from New Canaan.
