Wilton Warrior Hub, a Wilton High School varsity athlete-run training service for young athletes, and the Wilton Soccer Association are sponsoring weekly, small-sided pickup soccer games for girls and boys ages 8-13. The first game will be Thursday, July 19 from 4-5 p.m. at Ambler Farm Fields (location subject to change).

Games in subsequent weeks will be each Thursday at the same time, depending on interest and participation. A weekly email will announce the games. Each player must be registered in advance to participate. Participation may be limited based on demand, so players are encouraged to sign up soon via the Wilton Warrior Hub website.

Organizers say the games are intended to provide a relaxed and fun environment to play and improve skills. Games will be organized by age and ability each week and will be composed of both boys and girls. All players are required to have soccer cleats and shin guards, and should bring water and a soccer ball.

Warrior Hub founder John Zizzadoro, and coaches Kevin Connolly and Lindsay Groves will run the sessions. Zizzadoro and Connolly are WHS ‘18 graduates who were also multi-year starters on the WHS boys’ varsity soccer team. Both have been players, referees and youth coaches and are excited to share their love of the game with the youth community. This fall, Zizzadoro will be attending Bentley University and Connolly will be attending the University of Virginia. Groves, a rising WHS senior, is a multi-year varsity soccer player and a co-captain of the high school’s girls’ varsity team.

Warrior Hub will collect a one-time $50 fee from participants to cover the cost of per-player insurance and organizational oversight for these summer games. Players may attend as many sessions as they want for this fee. Once registered, players will receive an invoice from Warrior Hub via Square to make a one-time payment.

In addition to coaching these pick up games, the three coaches and the rest of the Warrior Hub team are available for private or semi-private sessions with players who are looking for additional training opportunities. Visit the Wilton Warrior Hub website for more information.
