UPDATE⎯MAY 10, 2016 11 A.M.: This event has been cancelled due to several circumstances, including General Assembly special session scheduling changes.
Following the well attended Wilton Youth Council presentation on opioid use and abuse, and what families can do to try and prevent it, Wilton’s local legislators will discuss how the state of Connecticut is addressing substance use. Join state senator Toni Boucher, state representative Gail Lavielle and state representative Tom O’Dea for a discussion of laws passed during this session, and learn what new legislation means to Wilton families.
Members of the community came together in late April for a panel discussion and resource fair on the opioid epidemic that has been sweeping across the country and our state. Attendees learned how people become addicted to opioids and heroin, and when and how to get help for themselves or a loved one. In this follow-up presentation, Wilton’s local legislators will explain initiatives that are being discussed in Hartford and new laws that have passed in the current legislative session. There will be ample time for audience questions.
The discussion will take place on Thursday, May 12, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Rd.. Advance registration is recommended via the Wilton Library website or by calling 203.762.6334.
The presentation is co-sponsored by Wilton Youth Council’s Parent Connection and the Wilton Library.
