Wilton’s first selectman Bill Brennan just sent a ‘Code Red’ announcement to Wilton residents:

Make immediate emergency preparations, and be sure you have sufficient food and water supplies supplies to take care of every member of your family for at least three days.

Major state roads will close as of 9 p.m. this evening (Monday, Jan. 26). Unless absolutely necessary, please stay in your homes and off roads to allow plow trucks to clear the roads.

Wilton’s emergency shelter at Comstock Community Center is prepared and will be open this evening. The shelter’s telephone number for information is 203.216.8757.

Road closures and other information will be posted on the town website and will be broadcast on additional Code Red messages, as well as in other locations around town.

All public safety departments will have additional personnel on hand to deal with emergencies.

CL&P will also have additional resources in CT. CL&P officials are predicting power outages due to downed power lines. Report every power outage to CL&P at 800.286.2000.

Get fresh batteries and candles before the storm intensifies. Take care when using candles–avoid any accidental fire, as deteriorated road conditions due to heavy snowfall may impede fire rescue vehicles ability to respond.
