Position: Part-Time Technology Assistant

Employer:  Wilton Library
Job Description: Wilton Library seeks a Part-Time Technology Assistant to join our enterprising Network Services team. Job responsibilities include audio/visual equipment setup for meetings, programs, and rentals, performing helpdesk functions for staff and patrons, and support for library hardware/software. Performs other duties as assigned under the direction of the Technology Manager.

Qualifications: Holds a high school diploma. Familiar with common operating systems and software as well as online services. Ability to quickly learn and troubleshoot software systems and maintain good customer service demeanor in a dynamic environment. Demonstrated attention to detail, good communication skills, and ability to interact with staff, volunteers, and patrons. Experience with audiovisual equipment and livestreaming a plus. Must be able to lift up to approximately 35 pounds and push carts weighing approximately 100 pounds.

Hours: Part-time hourly position approximately 19 hours/week including evenings. Flexibility to cover additional hours including weekends as necessary.

Salary: From $18.00 per hour

Position: Administrative and Development Assistant

Employer:  Wilton Library

Job Description: Wilton Library seeks a dedicated assistant to be part of a dynamic administrative team. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Administrative and Development Assistant will perform a variety of administrative tasks including communications with the Board of Trustees, communications with Wilton Town Hall, and providing administrative support for art exhibits and the summer concert series. The Administrative and Development Assistant will also support the Development Manager by maintaining and utilizing the donor management database, generating routine communications with the Friends and supporters of Wilton Library, and assisting with fund-raising activities.

Education and Skills Required: An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university and minimum five years administrative experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills, exercise discretion and maintain composure in stressful situations; project positive customer service and teamwork attitude; able to confer or refer appropriately; organized and pays attention to detail and accuracy; has good problem solving and time management skills. Exhibits agility, versatility and can-do attitude. Experience and demonstrated competence in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher). Ability to operate general office equipment and communications equipment. Experience with donor management software and generating mailing lists (mail-merge) is preferred.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits.

Salary range:  $45,000-$50,000, commensurate with experience.

Position:  Freelance Writer/Reporter

Job DescriptionGOOD Morning Wilton is seeking inquisitive, enthusiastic, experienced writers who are curious about Wilton and have a passion for writing, journalism, news and community engagement.

Freelance writers will have the opportunity to enterprise and work on assigned stories in their areas of interest — feature stories, news, town governance, education, elections and business, all with a Wilton focus. Ideal candidates will be flexible, understand news coverage, write well and have experience with journalistic writing. Knowledge of Wilton is helpful, but newcomers with experience, curiosity and interest absolutely will be considered (skill and ability is key; we can help with the networking, introductions and background/history where necessary).

Critical to us is a candidate’s ability to engage with others at GMW and in the community, and to work collaboratively on story approach, timing, and execution.

Qualifications:

  • Related experience:  have published work in news, features, online, print, advertising, PR, etc. Strong story-telling and writing skills, experienced in journalistic writing style. Submitting writing samples is required.
  • Wilton residence is preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of media, popular culture, and current events. Understanding what makes something newsworthy is a must.
  • You should be comfortable with deadlines, and able to communicate essential information clearly, concisely and factually.
  • An understanding of and commitment to journalistic principles of objectivity, factual information and ethics.
  • access to the tools of technology needed to complete freelance writing assignments (cell phone, internet, computer, access to ZOOM)
  • Can work legally in the U.S. to accept payment and file tax documentation
  • Willingness to consider covering some evening assignments, most likely from home, with possible quick turnaround for publication

Hours: Freelance, with occasional night assignments possible
