David Kinne Carmichael, of Wilton, passed away on Jan. 25 at age 77, with his loving family by his side. He was born in 1947 to Frank and Muriel Carmichael of Northford, CT, where he grew up with his sister, Ann Carmichael. He is survived by his wife Mary Alice Fisher of Wilton, and children William and Lally.
David graduated from UConn in 1971. Throughout his life, his love for travel took him up the coast of California on his bicycle, and across Europe, settling in Paris with his guitar. He lived in New York, where he sang the songs he wrote at a place “on the corner of Bleecker and Broadway.” He also lived in Key Biscayne, FL, where he dedicated himself to the Dolphin Project, a cause that spoke to his deep love for nature and wildlife. After his years of travel, he settled down in Connecticut, starting a small business to distribute industrial lubrication technology. During his children’s school years, he devoted his time to the Wilton Public School’s Board of Education, serving on the Long-Range Planning Committee. David had a creative spirit, writing songs, cooking and painting pastels in his later years. His sports were golf and skiing, and he loved following the Yankees, Dolphins, and UConn basketball.
Private services will be held.
