Allen’s Meadow Volunteers — Helping to Maintain a Native Pollinator Meadow

A newly created native pollinator meadow is now behind the Community Gardens at Allen’s Meadow. It includes over 40 species of native wildflowers and 4 species of native grasses — it was previously a monoculture of an invasive weed called Mugwort. It is critical to remove as many Mugwort seedlings as possible during this first year of meadow growth. This helps prevent them from taking hold before the native meadow seedlings have a chance to get established.
They are holding a series of volunteer days this Summer and Fall (next one is Wednesday, July 10). Consider volunteering an hour or two of your time to help ensure this native meadow has a chance to survive and thrive in Wilton’s treasured town park. Many hands make light work.
Park at Field 6 sign and walk over to meadow on the backside of the community gardens.
