Author Talk: Jacqueline Raposo – The Me Without: A Year Exploring Habit, Healing, and Happiness

January 31, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Free

Wiltonian and journalist Jacqueline Raposo finds herself sick, single, broke, and wandering in a fog. Fighting chronic illness, debt and other low points in her life she embarks on subtracting some of her most constant habits from her life – social media, shopping, sugar, and negative thoughts – for periods of 30 to 90 days over the course of one year.

In this intimately curated search for self-improvement (a quest that readers can easily personalize for themselves), Raposo confesses to the sometimes violent and profound shifts in her social interactions, physical health, and sense of self-worth. Part memoir, part case study, this book offers the reader an inspiring example of how to forge one’s own journey, expose wounds, and help personal healing.

Raposo is an expert interviewer and writes regularly for Food & Wine, Saveur, and Cosmopolitan, and is the producer and co-host of “Love Bites Radio,” and connects chronic illness/disability advocates with protest events as the co-founder of #MarchingWithMe.

See library’s registration link for more details. Q&A will follow the talk. There is no charge to attend, but registration is highly recommended. Register online or call 203.762.6334. Book signing and purchase available courtesy of Elm Street Books, New Canaan. Media Sponsor:  GOOD Morning Wilton.
