Birding Allen’s Meadow and Community Gardens with Joe Bear
Join expert birder, conservationist, and Wilton resident Joe Bear in search of birds making a migration stopover at Allen’s Meadow on their way south to their wintering grounds, some as far as the pampas grasslands of South America. Check out the native bluestem meadow, woodlands, field edges, pond, and of course the community gardens which are often teaming with migrants. Fall sightings in recent years have included Bobolinks, Dickcissels, a variety of warblers, flycatchers, sparrows, as well as raptors including Bald Eagle. And who knows what unexpected migrant might put in an appearance as Allen’s is well known throughout the state for turning up rarities due to its diverse habitat!
