Birding Walk Through Allen’s Meadow

Join us for our final spring migration bird walk led by Wilton resident, gardener, and birding expert Joe Bear on Thursday, May 27, 8:30 am -10:30 am at Allen’s Meadow, Wilton.
Spring migration is on the wane but we’re hoping to see a few stragglers and some new summer resident arrivals. Over the last two Thursdays, Joe helped us spot a host of spring migrants including an Orchard Oriole, Bobolink, Indigo Bunting, Baltimore Orioles, Eastern Kingbirds, Warblers (including Wilson’s, Blue-winged, Northern Parula, Black and White, American Redstart, Blackpoll), and Savannah Sparrows, with Bluebirds and Tree Swallows tending to their nest boxes. Joe will lead this leisurely 2-hour walk through the diverse habitats this birding hot spot has to offer – open field, woodlands, edges, pond, and swamp – to seek out returning summer residents, those on their way to northern nesting grounds, and maybe a vagrant or two.
Meet at the North end of the baseball field parking lot near Field 6 sign. Bring your binoculars!
