browngrotta arts presents Volume 50: Chronicling Fiber Art for Three Decades

browngrotta arts gallery is holding an open exhibition, Volume 50: Chronicling Fiber Art for Three Decades, highlighting works by 50 important contemporary artists of Modern Craft in celebration of the publication of browngrotta arts 50th catalog.
Artists include James Bassler, Annette Bellamy, Lia Cook, Mary Merkel-Hess, Ferne Jacobs, Tamiko Kawata, Gyöngy Laky, Lawrence LaBianca, John McQueen, Simone Pheulpin, among others.
A forerunner in the field, browngrotta arts has been researching, documenting, and raising awareness of fiber art through bi-annual exhibitions and publishing catalogs for over 30 years. Featuring 172 artists, the catalogs have collectively recorded a narrative of Modern Craft providing a rare historical insight and a unique chronicle of an often-overlooked art field that is currently being reappraised and appreciated with recent surveys at the Tate London, the MoMA, and the Whitney Museum.
The publication of the 50th catalog of the same title, will continue the tradition with full-color exhibition photos by the co-founder of browngrotta arts, Tom Grotta.
On view beginning Saturday, Sept. 12 from 1-6 p.m., and Sept. 13-20 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
