Domestic Violence Awareness Month Proclamation

First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice will read a Proclamation for Domestic Violence Awareness Month on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 9 a.m. at Wilton High School.
Members of the Wilton Domestic Violence Task Force, Wilton Police, Teen PeaceWorks and other officials will be there. The event has usually been held at Town Hall, but this year has been moved to a new location at Wilton High School in front of the flagpole (corner of Catalpa Rd. and Kristine Lily Way) in order to include some of the student population.
Traditionally the members of the Teen PeaceWorks group have tied purple ribbons around trees in Wilton Center–the same number as the number of domestic violence calls received by the Wilton Police for that year. Instead, the task force will use purple pinwheels to represent the number of calls this year.
