Fall Migration Birding at Allen’s Meadow and Community Gardens, with Joe Bear

Join expert birder, conservationist, master gardener and Wilton resident Joe Bear for this free series of three fall migration bird walks at Allen’s Meadow. Millions of birds journey south this time of year to their wintering grounds, some here in Connecticut, some as far away as the pampas grasslands of South America. Bear will lead us on a leisurely two-hour walk through the diverse habitats this well-known birding hot spot has to offer — open fields/meadow, woodland edges, the community gardens which are often teaming with migrants, and the new native pollinator meadow. Fall sightings in recent years have included bobolinks, dickcissels, indigo buntings, a variety of warblers, orioles, flycatchers, sparrows, as well as several species of soaring raptors including bald eagle.
