Fall Migration Birding at Allen’s Meadow and its Community Gardens, with Joe Bear
September 17, 2024 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am

Join expert birder, conservationist, master gardener, and Wilton resident Joe Bear for this free series of fall migration bird walks in search of birds making a migration stopover at Allen’s Meadow on their way south to their wintering grounds, some as far as the pampas grasslands of South America. Joe will lead us on a leisurely two-hour walk through the diverse habitats this well-known birding hot spot has to offer — open fields/meadows, woodland edges, wetlands, and of course the community gardens which are often teaming with migrants. Fall sightings in recent years have included Bobolinks, Dickcissels, Indigo Buntings, a variety of warblers, flycatchers, and sparrows, as well as several species of soaring raptors including the Bald Eagle.

The event is drizzle or shine. Bring binoculars and park in front of the Allen’s Meadow Field 6 sign.
