Free Presentation: Calm First, Learn Later (A Regulation Roadmap for Parents)

For parents of children ages 4-12 (elementary and middle school).
When kids are dysregulated — whether they’re melting down, shutting down, or just plain stuck—it can feel impossible to reach them, let alone help them learn. The truth is, kids can’t access logic, focus, or problem-solving until they feel safe and regulated.
In this engaging and practical talk, special education teacher Charlie Del Santo will discuss simple, proven strategies to support children through stress, shutdowns and big emotions, so they can return to a place where listening, learning and connection are possible.
Participants will leave this presentation with:
- A clear understanding of what’s happening in your child’s brain and body during moments of dysregulation
- Everyday tools to use before, during and after dysregulation to help your child reset
- A ready-to-use “parent toolbox” of calming phrases, routines and supports for home
