HindiUSA organizes SewaDiwali Food Donation

In celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights, Middlebrook 8th graders and HindiUSA are organizing a SewaDiwali Food Donation Drive on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., outside the Wilton Stop & Shop, inviting the community to give back by supporting families in need.
The event is part of the nationwide SewaDiwali initiative, a grassroots movement that brings together individuals and organizations to serve the community during the festive season. They will be collecting non-perishable food items that will be donated to local food pantries across Fairfield County.
Diwali is a time to celebrate with family and friends, but also a time to reflect on our values of compassion and service. By organizing this food drive, these students hope to foster togetherness and Sewa (selfless giving) for the welfare of society, by promoting the festive and enlightening spirit of Diwali.
Community members are encouraged to donate items such as canned goods, rice, pasta, cereal, shelf-stable milk and other essential food products. Donations can be dropped off at the collection site located outside Stop & Shop (5 River Rd.) between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Nov. 1.
