Spring Migration Birding at Allen’s Meadow and its Community Gardens

May 8, 2025 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am
Free

Come along on this free spring migration bird walk at Allen’s Meadow led by expert birder, conservationist, master gardener and Wilton resident Joe Bear. Bear will lead a leisurely two-hour walk through the diverse habitats this well-known birding hot spot has to offer — open fields, woods, woodland edges, pond and swamp — to seek out returning summer residents, those on their way to northern breeding grounds, and maybe a vagrant or two. Previous spring walks have yielded a wide variety of species, including both orchard and Baltimore orioles, bobolink, indigo bunting, scarlet tanager, eastern kingbird, rose-breasted grosbeak, flycatchers, vireos and a variety of colorful warblers.  We’ll also get a chance to see up close eastern bluebirds and tree swallows vying for one of the 12 nest boxes that Bear erected in and around the Little Bluestem meadow.

Register online.
