Spring Migration Birding at Allen’s Meadow and its Community Gardens, with Joe Bear

Join the Norwalk River Watershed Association for 3 free spring migration bird walks led by expert birder, conservationist, master gardener intern, and Wilton resident Joe Bear.
Bear will lead participants on a leisurely 2-hour walk through the diverse habitats this well-known birding hot spot has to offer – open fields, woodlands, edges, pond and swamp – to seek out returning summer residents, those on their way to northern nesting grounds, and maybe a vagrant or two.
Previous spring walks have yielded a wide variety of species including both Orchard and Baltimore Orioles, Bobolink, Indigo Bunting, Scarlet Tanager, Eastern Kingbird, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Flycatchers, Vireos and a variety of colorful Warblers. We’ll also get a chance to see up close Eastern Bluebirds and Tree Swallows vying for one of the 12 nest boxes erected by Bear in and around the Little Bluestem Meadow.
