Wilton LWV Open Meeting Guest Speakers–Four Wilton HS Students

Monthly Meeting, featuring four students from Wilton HS. Isabella Segall, Grace Bracken, Elizabeth Yoon, and Vignesh Subramanian. They will share their experiences in organizing and mobilizing young people to become involved in the democratic process.
At its next monthly meeting, the Wilton League of Women Voters welcomes four student speakers from Wilton High School—Isabella Segall, founder/director of Connecticut Teens Against Gun Violence; Grace Bracken, WHS Women’s Activism Club; and Elizabeth Yoon and Vignesh Subramanian, WHS Model Congress—on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 9:30 a.m. at Comstock Community Center (180 School Rd.). The meeting is free and open to all League members and the general public. The program begins with a short business meeting, with light refreshments, followed by the students’ talk.
Following the mass shooting in Parkland Florida, Segall was a featured speaker at two major events in CT—the March for Our Lives at the State Capitol and The Road to Change Tour in Newtown this past summer. The marches attracted thousands of participants, including survivors of the Parkland shooting. Bracken was the 2018 WHS winner of the League of Women Voters Edna Jones Memorial Book Award and is a board member of CT Teens Against Gun Violence. Yoon and Subramanian, as members of the Model Congress, volunteered at the LWV’s recent regional debates before the November election.
They will discuss their experiences in organizing and mobilizing young people to become involved in the democratic process. Email the League for more information.
