Wilton High School PTSA’s to Hold First Annual Student Volunteer Fair
Wilton High School PTSA will soon hold its first-ever Student Volunteer Opportunities Fair.
Knowing how difficult it can be for teens to find local volunteer opportunities, the WHS PTSA is bringing together more than 20 local groups and organizations to help students find the right fit, whether for the summer or for the next school year. Students (and their parents) currently in middle school and high school are encouraged to attend and discover potential opportunities.
Organizers said that not only is volunteering good for the community, it’s can help Wilton students meet the school district’s “Vision of a Learner” goals, boost honor society applications, and make college and job resumes stand out.
Students and/or parents are invited to attend the fair on Wednesday, May 14, from 7-9 p.m. in the Wilton High School Library. For more information, visit the WHS PTSA webpage.
Wilton Letter Carriers to Collect Food Donations for Person 2 Person
This week, Wilton letter carriers and their U.S. Postal Service colleagues in surrounding towns will be collecting food donations for Person 2 Person for the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the nation’s largest one-day food drive.
Wilton carriers will be delivering Stamp Out Hunger bags to mailboxes this week, in the days leading up to collection day on Saturday, May 10. Residents are asked to fill the bags with non-perishable unexpired food items — think peanut butter, pasta, canned tuna, rice and soup. (Organizers ask that no items in glass jars be included.)
Residents can leave filled bags by their mailboxes on the morning of Saturday, May 10, for pickup.
Free Books at Wilton Library on Saturday

Wilton Library’s Spring Book Sale was a huge success but this year, there are still many items remaining — too many that will cost the library money to remove.
Library officials have invited the public to take as many free books as they can on Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help out. Visitors are asked to bring their own bags.

The event was held at Simply Delicious, a Wilton-based catering business, owned and operated by Chef Lauren Peden.
