GOOD To Hear: New Police HQ On Track for February Opening

At Monday night’s Board of Selectmen’s meeting, members heard an update on the progress of the police headquarters. Although there are still a couple of items that need to be completed, including getting proper lighting on and around the elevator in order for it to pass a state inspection, there is still a likelihood that the police force will be able to occupy the building by early February.

GOOD To Learn & Volunteer: Register for Wilton CERT’s Disaster Preparedness Training

Spots are still open in Wilton CERT‘s annual Disaster Preparedness Training Program that starts Tuesday, Jan. 27. The class is open to community members age 18 and up.
The all-volunteer Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), in conjunction with the Wilton Department of Emergency Management, invites community members to learn how to help family, friends and neighbors in the event of an emergency or disaster. Training is provided by CT Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security-certified CERT instructors, and Wilton Police, Fire, EMS and others.
Training will cover disaster preparedness, the CERT organization, disaster medical operations, fire safety, terrorism, animals in disaster, disaster psychology, light search-and-rescue (SAR), fire extinguisher training, equipment orientation and radio basics.
Classes are held in classroom, in-person practical exercises and virtual) starting Tuesday, Jan. 27 through Saturday, Feb. 28. After completing the course, participants are eligible to volunteer with CERT. (Check the Wilton CERT website for details and exact timing.) Materials will be provided and there is no charge for the training.
Wilton CERT is part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and regularly assists first responders at large emergency incidents or public events, and have been deployed for missing persons searches, traffic and crowd control, staffing Wilton’s emergency shelter, distributing emergency food and water, and providing mutual aid to neighboring towns.
Training is offered only once a year, and FEMA strictly limits class sizes. All participants must be registered in advance. Register on the Wilton CERT website.
GOOD To Know: Wilton Police Department Welcomes Two New Officers

On Jan. 5, 2026, the Wilton Police Department officially welcomed two new members, Ofc. Vitali Bralgin and Ofc. Josiah Vrooman. They were sworn in in front of town officials and employees, fellow first responders from the Wilton Police and Fire Departments, and family members.
Bralgin was born in Uzbekistan and emigrated to the United States in 2010. He studied business management at Berkley College in New York City is now a resident of Bridgeport. Vrooman grew up in New Hampshire and upstate New York. He was a full-time member of the United States Army from 2019 until retiring from active duty in 2025, and he now serves as a reservist for the 143rd Military Police Company in West Hartford.
