GOOD Buzz: WHS Students Raise Over $7,000 for Circle of Care with Head-Shaving Fundraiser

For the second year in a row, Wilton High School students organized a head-shaving fundraiser to support Circle of Care, a Wilton-based nonprofit that provides critical support to families of children diagnosed with cancer. Led by juniors Dylan Flanagan and Will Viggiano, the effort has already raised more than $7,000 — surpassing last year’s total of $6,833. The fundraiser brings students together to shave their heads in solidarity with children undergoing treatment while raising money to help families manage the emotional, financial, and logistical challenges that come with a diagnosis.
The event took place Monday evening, Mar. 9 at Circle of Care’s red barn headquarters on Danbury Rd., where local barbers volunteered their time to shave participants’ heads and other students, friends and community members cheered the participants on. Organizers said the goal was both to raise funds and to bring the community together around a meaningful cause, emphasizing that participation in any form — shaving, donating or attending — makes a difference.
Circle of Care provides practical, emotional, and financial assistance to families throughout the cancer journey, helping them maintain stability at home so they can focus on their child. Donations are still being accepted through the fundraiser’s GoFundMe page as organizers aim to reach their $8,000 goal.
GOOD Aim: YMCA’s Riverbrook Robins Archery Team Ends the Season on Target

The Riverbrook Robins Archery Team, a Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) program at the Wilton YMCA, capped off a strong season marked by dedication, growth and impressive results. Training three times a week, the team competes in tournaments that require both physical skill and mental focus. In a national virtual tournament last fall, multiple archers took top honors, including Cleo Nakano and Oscar Kret, while the team also secured first place overall in the Women’s Compound Team division.
The team continued its success throughout the season, with standout performances at the CT State Indoor Championship, New England Open and CT State JOAD Indoor Championships. Kret earned a first-place finish and ranked 13th nationally at JOAD Nationals, and will compete in the Vegas Shoot, the world’s largest indoor archery tournament, and will be the first member of the Robins to enter before joining a college team. Across the board, archers achieved personal bests, with James Kim showing the most improvement, increasing his score by 133 points over the season.
“They’ve all had an outstanding season,” Archery Director Zack Block said. “The archers continue to improve at their own pace, and I can’t convey how proud I am of each one of them.”
Other archers include Aurora Black, Anya Reilly, Mei Macintyre, Meagan Segal, Sophia Tian and Soleil Dennebaum.
