*STORM UPDATE*: Officials Stress Staying Off Wilton Roads

Wilton has 101 reported outages, of which 89 outages are associated with an outage caused by downed wires on Old King’s Highway. A crew is currently on site there.

From Emergency Management Director/Fire Chief Jim Blanchfield: “It is important to stress that if at all possible, residents stay off the roads today and tonight, and remove parked vehicles from roadways. Please also avoid walking in the roadways as visibility is very limited for snowplows and emergency services.”

Blanchfield also had a message for anyone who hires private snowplows for residential or commercial properties: “Ensure they do not push snow from driveways or parking lots and leave it on Town streets. If there is no other alternative to pushing snow into the street, the plow contractor must plow off the windrow left across the street by plowing until the road is safe and clear, meaning it should be no worse than when the driver began work. This is a safety issue.”

GOOD Nature: Backyard Bobcat Gets Its Next Meal

Credit: Gregory Reppucci

Gregory Reppucci photographed this beautiful bobcat in his backyard. Says his wife Kelsey Reppucci, “Upon arriving home one Sunday, we spotted this beauty sitting near our old stone wall for about 10 minutes before a squirrel came into its line of sight. The bobcat waited patiently as the squirrel came running along the stone wall and was spotted for an early dinner catch.”
