Rain makes the world go green in spring, but rain made the Wilton Go Green Festival much more damp than organizers and attendees alike would have preferred. While the weather made put a figurative damper on attendance, people who were there rallied as best as possible with information, giveaways, silent auction goodies and an inaugural MayDay 5K to benefit the Wilton Loop of the Norwalk River Valley Trail.
The Dog Parade brightened the grey day for a few moments. The highlight was best costume winner, a four-legged friend who showed up as “Prince.” Maybe his new nickname will be “The Paw-tist Formerly Known As…”
GOOD Morning Wilton was a proud sponsor of the Festival and we had a booth right on the Town Green, along with other sponsors Ross Solar Group and Gardel Construction. Thanks to all visitors who stopped by our booth (and be sure to tell your friends about the snazzy GMW pencils made from recycled newspaper that we were giving away). We’re excited to be both the news source all of Wilton is talking about as well as your favorite sustainable source of news, perfect for Wilton’s signature event that celebrates all things environmental and sustainable…and Green!
MayDay 5K Race Results
Outdoor Sports Center sponsored yesterday’s first ever MayDay 5K, and they’ve announced the top three runners in each division. Store owner Will Maxwell was thrilled with how their first effort organizing a race for the NRVT turned out, despite the dreary weather.
“We raised $3,185 for the Norwalk River Valley Trail, and we are very happy with the turnout on a cold and rainy day. We had 70 runners of all ages, and as you’ll notice, the winner of the Women’s division is 12 years old, and the second place finisher was 13!” Maxwell told GMW.
