CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES: Wilton Presbyterian Church invites the community to two meaningful Christmas Eve worship services on Wednesday, Dec. 24:
- 4 p.m.: Family and Candlelight Service: A joyful, family-friendly service featuring the church choir, carols and a Christmas message with interactive participation for children of all ages. The service concludes with candlelight as we sing Silent Night. Rev. Mark Montgomery is preaching.
- 10 p.m.: “O Holy Night” Service: A traditional candlelight service marked by quiet dignity and beauty, drawing us to the manger through Scripture, special music, and reflection on our Lord’s birth. Rev. Jessica Jones is preaching.

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES: The Wilton community is invited to Christmas Eve celebration at St. Matthew’s Church (36 New Canaan Rd.) on Wednesday, Dec. 24. Two services are planned — a family-friendly gathering at 4 p.m., followed by a more intimate service for adults at 9 p.m. Both services will feature a musical prelude beginning 30 minutes before each service starts.

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES: Wilton Congregational Church (70 Ridgefield Rd.) will open its doors to the entire Wilton community for Christmas Eve Services: An Evening of Joyful Celebration, on Wednesday, Dec. 24:
- 4 p.m.: Family Service (perfect for young children)
- 5 p.m.: Family Caroling outside in the WCC courtyard with a brass band (dress warmly)
- 6 p.m. is a Candlelight Service, with vocal and instrumental music ensembles, including the English handbells and the children’s choir.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE: Two members of the Wilton Fire Department were recognized upon their retirements for their exceptional years of public service. Fire Marshal Rocco Grosso and Lt. Brad Carlson were presented with citations from State Rep. Savet Constantine (D-42) for their years of dedication (25 for Grosso and 29 for Carlson). “Both have been pillars of our community, keeping Wilton residents safe in the most challenging conditions,” Constantine said.

WHS BOYS SWIM/DIVE WIN: On the strength of two individual victories by Hirsh Iyer, and a team-effort to win all three relays, the Wilton High School boys swim and dive team won a close meet against Brookfield High School, 98.5-79.5, delivering an opening season victory to new coaches Matt Salig and Zach Towers on Friday afternoon, Dec. 19 at the Brookfield pool.
After starting the meet with a 10 point deficit from the diving competition:
- Wilton finished first (Ozzy Andrews, Sam Jacobson, Lucas Fontana and Andrew Mims) and third (Ethan Lam, Henry Gimby, Adam Mims and Alex Nguyen) in the 200 medley relay
- Andrew Mims and Greg Pinchbeck finished second and third in the 200 freestyle
- In a closely contested race, Fontana won the 200 individual medley with Gimby finishing third.
- Iyer won the 50 freestyle with Kurt Jeschke placing third
- After a short break, Brookfield’s Andrew Hatzis won the 100 butterfly with Fontana and Jeschke finishing second and third.
- In the closest race of the meet, Iyer was first and Andrews tied for second in the 100 freestyle.
- Brookfield’s Gavin Paige won the 500 freestyle with Andrew Mims, Adam Mims and Lam placing second, third and fourth
- Wilton closed out the final four events strong which included first in the 200 freestyle relay (Jacobson, Gimby, Jeschke and Iyer); Andrews and Lam placing first and third in the 100 backstroke; Jacobson and Gimby placing first and second in the 100 breaststroke; and Wilton finishing first in the 400 freestyle relay (Fontana, Iyer, Andrew Mims and Andrews).

CONGRATULATIONS! to Kara Berghaus on being named the Wilton Coalition for Youth’s December 2025 Community Champion! As part of the #WiltonIsWhereYouBelong campaign, the Coalition spotlights one individual each month for their positive influence, work or commitment to the Wilton community.
Berghaus founded Wilton’s Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA) and has served as its president for more than seven years, “working tirelessly for the parents of, and children with special needs.” One nominator wrote, “Kara has always given back to the community. She is selfless… With a counseling background she cares deeply about our education system and mental health of children.” Berghaus also works at Ambler Farm, developing and implementing science- and farm-related kids’ programs.
The Wilton Coalition for Youth is made up of a myriad of organizations, town departments and individuals who serve youth and families in Wilton. Spearheaded by the Wilton Youth Council, Coalition members work together to coordinate efforts aimed at preventing substance misuse and promoting the mental health and emotional well-being of youth and families.
