Wilton Public Schools has appointed Nicole Querzé as the secondary assistant director for special services for the Wilton Public Schools, effective July 1. She will oversee special services for students in grades 6-age 22.
As a dean of students at Middlebrook School for the past five years, Querzé has helped oversee the Middlebrook special services department and has supported transitions for students at pivotal times in their academic careers. In addition to this work, Querzé has been immersed in social emotional learning and school climate initiatives, has led emergency preparedness efforts in her building, and has contributed meaningfully to numerous district committees.
Querzé began her tenure in Wilton in 2012 as a special education teacher assuming responsibilities that included crisis management district trainer, special education instructional leader and club advisor.
Prior to her time in Wilton, Querzé served as an autism and inclusion specialist for the Darien Public Schools, a special education teacher for Cooperative Education Services and an early childhood interventionist (birth to three) in California. Querzé holds a Bachelor’s degree in communication science and speech pathology from James Madison University, a Master’s degree in autism from Southern Connecticut State University, and a sixth year certificate in educational leadership from Sacred Heart University.
“Ms. Querzé’s passion for working with complex learners, her commitment to supporting families, and her ability to work collaboratively with staff make her the ideal candidate for this district leadership role,” Wilton Public Schools Director of Human Resources Maria Coleman said.
