Summer Fun at Wilton’s Merwin Meadows Park
Merwin Meadows Park is located on Lovers Ln. just off of Route 33 here in Wilton. This community park is open to the public from sunup to sundown and lifeguards are on duty from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The park offers swimming, picnicking, grilling, beach volleyball, a playground and a soccer field. Bath houses and restrooms are available as well.
Fees for use are collected each year. Resident Family Passes are $60.00 and Resident Individual Passes are $30.00 for the season. Since 2001 the State of Connecticut has required parks like Merwin Meadows to be open to non-residents as well as residents. A family pass for non-residents is $120.00 and a non-resident individual pass is $60.00. Season passes may be purchased by residents and non-residents at the Parks & Recreation office in the Comstock Community Center at 180 School Rd., Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m..
Walk in fees are collected at Merwin daily. Resident adults are $5.00 per day and resident children over 5-years-old are $2.00 per day. Non-resident adults are $10.00 per day and non-resident children are $5.00 per day. Both resident and non-resident daily fees are per person.
The annual cost to operate the park is approximately $90,000 and is budgeted in the Town’s operating budget. Fees collected go to the Town’s general fund and last year the department collected $60,000, up from $30,000 three years ago.
As the popularity of the park increases, please keep in mind for the safety of the users, the park at times reaches capacity and the department may need to limit the access.
The department appreciates the passion and support of those residents who take advantage of this beautiful facility and encourage others to stop by to enjoy a picnic or a swim.
Enjoy your summer!
