Monday, Nov. 23, the Wilton Republican Town Committee announced it has put its support behind Matt Raimondi to fill the vacant seat on the Board of Selectmen. When the new term starts on Monday, Dec. 1, the BOS will take up as one of its first acts finding a replacement to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Josh Cole (effective Nov. 19).

Raimondi, the outgoing chair of the Board of Finance, is a registered Republican who brings fiscal-planning credentials and deep experience with Town financial matters. His nomination has received strong bipartisan support, including several officials who provided their comments in our story on Monday.

Since the story about his nomination ran, GOOD Morning Wilton has received many more messages and emails in support of Raimondi, in anticipation of the BOS members’ upcoming deliberation whether to appoint him for the remainder of Cole’s term (through November 2027).

Letters, statements and emails include those from town officials, residents and community leaders who have endorsed Raimondi’s candidacy.

State Rep. Savet Constantine: Raimondi an “Outstanding Choice for BOS and Asset to Wilton’s Future”

I believe Matt Raimondi is an excellent choice to be nominated for appointment to the Board of Selectmen. His years on the Board of Finance, including as chair, give him a strong, practical understanding of Wilton’s financial systems and the challenges we face. Matt’s experience from the BOF gives him clarity about the complex issues the town faces and he will be a steady voice for long-term planning. Just as importantly, he leads with respect and true collegiality, consistently bringing people together to find common ground. Matt’s integrity, expertise and collaborative approach make him an outstanding choice for the Board of Selectmen and an asset to Wilton’s future.

State Sen. Ceci Maher: “Wilton is Lucky to Have Someone of Raimondi’s Caliber Willing to Serve”

To the Editor:

It’s a pleasure to add my voice to the endorsement of Matt Raimondi for the open seat on the Board of Selectmen. While on the Board of Finance, Matt set a new bar for inclusive engagement, openness and a willingness to consider the voices of others, engaging the town through surveys, and garnering public input.

Matt built bridges between the town boards and extended himself beyond what others have done in the past, reaching out to various groups in town to share the thinking of the Board of Finance and get feedback on the budget process.

Matt is thoughtful and kind, a good person with a strong work ethic and a willingness to show up when needed. Wilton is lucky to have someone of Matt’s caliber willing to take a seat on the BOS.

Matt Raimondi — Stabilizing Influence, Civil and Gracious Leader in Tumultuous Year

To the Editor:

I am thrilled that the wise and talented Matt Raimondi has been suggested for a selectman position. This would be an enormous stabilizing influence in a tumultuous year.

Wilton is so fortunate to have Matt once again showing his deep love of Wilton and unmatched sense of volunteer leadership.

My family was crushed by his election loss. I have never met anyone who pays close attention to all of our meetings who does not find Matt a remarkable, civil and gracious leader.

Thank you, Matt, for your faith and fortitude. You set a high standard for anyone else who volunteers.

Economic Development Commission Member/Former BOS Candidate Andrew Warren Offers Support for Raimondi

To the Editor:

I am pleased to offer my strong support for Matt Raimondi’s appointment to the Wilton Board of Selectmen. I have followed Matt’s public service closely and have been deeply impressed by his leadership, his commitment to Wilton, and the positive impact he has had on our community through his work on the Board of Finance.

Matt’s financial expertise is exceptional and was central to his success on the Board of Finance. He brings a rigorous, analytical approach to evaluating budgets, forecasting long-term financial trends, and ensuring that Wilton’s resources are used efficiently and responsibly. This experience will translate directly and powerfully to the work of the Board of Selectmen, which is responsible for setting priorities, overseeing town operations, allocating resources and balancing the evolving needs of residents with long-term fiscal sustainability. Few candidates possess as strong a command of the town’s financial structure, challenges, and opportunities as Matt does.

During his time as chair of the Board of Finance, Matt was a champion of transparency and proactive communication. He consistently made complex financial matters accessible to the community, fostering trust and encouraging meaningful engagement. That same commitment to openness will serve the Board of Selectmen well, where clear communication, public accountability, and responsiveness to residents are essential components of effective leadership.

As a lifelong Wilton resident, Matt understands the values, priorities, and history that define our town. His familiarity with Wilton’s community fabric — combined with his strategic perspective and financial insight — will allow him to make decisions that balance fiscal responsibility with the services, infrastructure, and investments that residents expect.

Matt is also an extraordinarily effective collaborator. He has worked with board members of varying backgrounds and political perspectives in a non-partisan, results-focused manner. His ability to listen, build consensus, and keep discussions grounded in facts and practical solutions was essential to the success of the Board of Finance. These qualities are just as critical on the Board of Selectmen, which must regularly coordinate with the Board of Education, the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Police and Fire Commissions, and other town bodies. Matt’s proven ability to work constructively across boards and commissions will ensure smooth cooperation and well-coordinated decision-making.

In short, Matt’s prior service on the Board of Finance has equipped him with the exact skills, insights and temperament needed on the Board of Selectmen: financial stewardship, transparent communication, steady leadership and a collaborative, community-first approach to governing.

Wilton would be fortunate to have Matt Raimondi serving as a selectman, and I wholeheartedly endorse his appointment.

Sincerely,

Andrew Warren

Raimondi’s contributions will strengthen our Town and help ensure we continue to make decisions that uphold Wilton’s best interests

To the Editor:

As a long‐time resident of Wilton who cares about maintaining our town’s values of local control, fiscal responsibility and walkable quality of life, I write in strong support of appointing Matt Raimondi to the Board of Selectmen.

Our town is facing several challenges including development pressures, infrastructure demands, budget dynamics in uncertain times. We need Selectmen who will not just steer by the headlines or the loudest voices, but who will engage deeply, explain the tradeoffs, build consensus and keep Wilton’s character intact. Matt fits that mold. He has a track record on the Board of Finance of keeping deliberations civil, focused and productive even when the stakes are high and emotions run strong.

Public service is serious work and Wilton deserves people who bring competence and character to public office. Matt Raimondi brings both. I urge the Board of Selectmen (and the town’s appointing authorities) to select him for the position. I believe his contributions will strengthen our town and help ensure we continue to make decisions that uphold Wilton’s best interests.

Sincerely,

Philip Murphy

Continue to Make Use of Raimondi’s Many Talents

To the Editor:

I urge Wilton’s Board of Selectmen to vote for Matt Raimondi to fill the vacancy on the board created by Josh Cole’s recent resignation.

Matt will give the BOS financial expertise and experience in town government at a time when it is badly needed. During his tenure as chairman of the Board of Finance he was an innovator, creating processes which improved the development of the budget, making it more transparent and understandable to the public. He is well known for being able to work with both political parties and is highly respected for his ability to communicate effectively to diverse groups of Wiltonians.

Matt Raimondi is one of Wilton’s most dedicated public servants. Let’s continue to make use of his many talents by appointing him to the Board of Selectmen.

Most sincerely,

Roberta Soden Brill
