Former Wilton Preschool aide Eric Von Kohorn was arraigned in CT Superior Court on charges of child pornography possession and distribution yesterday, Wednesday Sept. 3, but the case was continued and transferred to a higher court, according to the CT Superior Court clerk.
“It’s now transferred to Part A, where they hear higher crimes,” the clerk told GMW.com, and it will be heard on September 23. Von Kohorn is free on bond of $50,000.
According to the CT Post, Von Kohorn was accompanied by Kerry Lawrence, a criminal defense attorney based in White Plains. Von Kohorn’s lead attorney, Jason Sheffield, told GMW.com that Lawrence is the local lawyer who handled the formality of the arraignment.
Von Kohorn was arrested on August 20, following an investigation by state police of peer-to-peer online file sharing networks. According to the CT Post, State Police found Von Kohorn’s computer IP address on the network in April. Investigators notified Wilton school officials of their investigation in June, at which point Von Kohorn was placed on administrative leave; he resigned shortly thereafter.
Editor’s note: An earlier version incorrectly stated that Von Kohorn was not arraigned. GMW.com later corrected that version.
