In 2026, the Wilton Congregational Church will reach an extraordinary milestone: its 300th anniversary. Founded in 1726, the church has stood as a cornerstone of faith, fellowship, and service in the heart of Wilton for three centuries. In fact, the church — Wilton Parish — was the very beginning of the community of Wilton. To honor this remarkable occasion, a yearlong celebration is planned, filled with worship, history, and community spirit.
The festivities will begin with a Kickoff Worship Service on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, marking the official start of the anniversary year. This special service will welcome the congregation and community into a season of remembrance and renewal, harkening back to the church’s earliest roots in 1726. Through traditional hymns, scripture and reflection, the service will celebrate the enduring legacy of the church’s founders and generations of faithful members who have carried its mission forward.
On Saturday, Apr. 25, 2026, the congregation will gather for a truly memorable evening at a festive 300th Anniversary Banquet. This formal celebration, to be held at the beautiful Shore and Country Club in Norwalk, invites guests to dress up and enjoy an evening of fellowship, fine food and live music. It will be a night to honor the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the church’s bright future.
The church’s presence in the wider Wilton community will also be on display during the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25, 2026. Members of Wilton Congregational Church will walk or cheer from the sideline as the church’s float rolls down the parade route in honor of America’s military veterans across history. It’s a fitting tribute from a congregation that has long valued service, remembrance and community connection.
The celebration will reach its peak on Sunday, June 7, 2026, with the 300th Anniversary Worship Celebration, the church’s biggest and most joyous service yet. This milestone event will feature rousing worship, special music and a reunion with former clergy and members. Following the service, a festive celebration will bring everyone together to share stories, memories and gratitude for 300 years of faith in action.
As the Wilton Congregational Church prepares to enter its fourth century, its mission remains steadfast: to be a welcoming, compassionate and vibrant spiritual home for all. As the anniversary theme states — Lighting the Way to 300 More!
The 300th anniversary will not only honor the church’s rich history but also celebrate the enduring power of community, faith, and hope that continues to light its path forward.
